G.I. Joe Director Stephen Sommers Blows Stuff Up Real Good In This Exclusive DVD Clip image
In the battle of big, dumb fun this summer, who would have guessed that G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra would be a better bet than that titan of big-and-dumbness, Michael Bay’s Transformers franchise? Sure, Stephen Sommers’ action-figure flick has its share of low points – the less said about Joseph Gordon-Levitt, the better – but while the giant robots were collapsing into a black hole of excess, puerile humor, and fractional logic, G.I. Joe just tried to be a fast-paced, lightweight bit of fun – and succeeded, for the most part. Also, I’ll take Rachel Nichols jogging on a treadmill in a belly shirt over Megan Fox running from robots any day of the week.

If you didn’t give the Joes a chance in theaters this summer, you’ll get another chance to enlist when G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra hits Blu-ray and DVD (both single and two-disc versions) on November 3rd. To help recruit you hold-outs, Paramount has sent along an exclusive clip from the disc’s special features. In it, director Stephen Sommers and his crew discuss their love of blowing the hell out of stuff.

You can also check out the flick’s official site right over here.
