Juno is definitely the little movie that could. The film went from a picture almost nobody had heard of to one of pop culture’s biggest additions in the past few months. Now the movie is headed to DVD with an announced April 15th release date.
The film, complimented and criticized for its depiction of teenage pregnancy, scored writer Diablo Cody an Oscar for the screenplay and stars one heck of a cast, from newcomer Oscar nominee Ellen Page in the title role, to Arrested Development’s Michael Cera and Jason Bateman, as well as Jennifer Garner, J.K. Simmons, and Allison Janney. The DVD looks pretty loaded with bonus materials, which include deleted scenes, a gag reel, screen tests – particularly of interest thanks to the younger, less experienced cast. Add on a commentary from director Jason Reitman and Diablo Cody and you’ve got quite the package. If that’s not enough, however, there’s also a two-disc edition that includes four extra featurettes, and a Blu-ray edition that has all of that plus two Fox Movie Channel specials on the movie. Juno also is the latest film to take advantage of Fox’s “Digital Copy” promotion, which provides a digital copy of the movie that can be downloaded to your laptop or iPod automatically.
