Did you miss You Don’t Know Jack when it aired on HBO back in April? Well, you’ll get your chance to see it, but unfortunately you’ll have to wait until October 26th because, according to DVD Active, that’s when HBO plans to release the television movie on DVD.
The film stars Al Pacino as the infamous Dr. Jack Kevorkian. He’s 61-years-old and just beginning his venture to give terminal patients the right to die. With the help of his sister and a good friend (Brenda Vaccaro and John Goodman), Kevorkian offers a growing list of clientele “death counseling” and ultimately the option of committing assisted suicide. He gains the support of some, but the disapproval of others, namely the county prosecutor’s office, and winds up going to court for his actions. Even in the midst of a media frenzy, Kevorkian continues to perform the procedure ultimately fulfilling more than 100 patients’ wish to die. Having only come across glowing reviews for the film, I’m going to say that You Don’t Know Jack is likely worth your $26.98. In addition to the film, the DVD comes with audio commentary as well as a featurette. Commentary participants and a featurette description have yet to be revealed, but HBO did unveil the box art. |
