Each week DVDs come out. Some of them are worth your time and money and some aren't. Some of them are movies I've seen, and some of them aren’t. Regardless, I give you my opinion on the big releases of the week. If the releases sound like something you want to buy, just click the link to go to Amazon.com and you’ll support Cinema Blend with a few pennies. Take it or leave it, here's the DVD Blend.

Cinema Blend Pick of the Week:
Transformers

I’m not a huge fan of the ‘80s cartoon, but even I have to admit the movie blockbuster from this summer was pretty darn entertaining. Giant Freakin’ Robots doing battle in the streets of a city brings a lot of fun and some impressive effects to boot. The storylines could have been cut down a little bit to get to the GFR battles sooner (especially the horrible Anthony Anderson/Jon Voight plot which slows down the excitement level drastically). Still, die-hard fans were blown away by Michael Bay’s adaptation, so this is a solid pick for the week. The only downside is that this is definitely a movie that begs for big screens and loud sound. If you’re watching on a 13-inch screen with a mono-speaker, you might want to pass this by until you’ve upgraded to the 21st Century… but then again, what are you doing reading this if that describes you?

Worth mentioning:
The Hoax - I’m not normally one to leap up at a Richard Gere film, but the concept of this movie is just too good to pass by. If you aren’t a big Gere fan like me, take solace in the inclusion of Alfred Molina, who looks to be just as brilliant in his supporting role. The Other Half of Grindhouse - If the Grindhouse project has any fans left after the Weinstein’s cut the movie in two and released the lackluster Death Proof first, then this is a release of interest. I hear this is the superior of the two Grindhouse movies and since I suggested the first, I guess I have to suggest this one as well.
