About a month ago, Katey reported on the possibility of a teaser for Tron 3 appearing with the DVD and Blu-Ray packages. The rumor may have arisen in light that several of the new Tron discs will feature a “first look” at the new animated series, Tron: Uprising. Unfortunately, the possibility of a Tron 3 trailer is now firmly debunked, but so is the idea that only the five-disc collector's edition will be available.

On April 5th, Walt Disney Studios will be releasing Tron and Tron: Legacy on DVD and Blu-Ray. Since Disney is releasing the films in a variety of ways, you’ll be able to purchase either or both films, separately or together. Apparently, variety is a moneymaker. Based on what you decide to buy, the special features start at the pinnacle with the five-disc, two-movie set and then decrease in number, scope, and quality from there. The five-disc set will run you $79.99 and will give you all of the features listed below. The basic Blu-Ray sets for Tron or Tron: Legacy will run you $39.99, and the basic DVD copies for both films will cost $29.99 apiece. Or, if you want to roll with a high-definition or standard-definition movie download, those will be available for purchase, as well.

If you are more interested in the musical side of Tron: Legacy, Disney will also be releasing a remix album of the Daft Punk tracks from the film. The album will be called Tron: Legacy Reconfigured, and will also hit the market on April 5th. Since many of the Daft Punk/Tron tracks are excitingly gloomy and expansive rather than fun and fast like “Derezzed,” I’m really hoping this remix album is not going to be Alive 2011. I’ll just stick with the idea that any new Daft Punk is good Daft Punk for now.
