It looks like Wes Anderson is following up his picture The Darjeeling Limited with a short movie that will actually precede Darjeeling. Rather than wait a few years to create the prequel, however, Anderson has already put it together, according to www.joblo.com.

The short film, titled Hotel Chevalier will apparently play before The Darjeeling Limited in theaters. The short stars Natalie Portman, who also appears in Darjeeling and sets up some of the events that occur in the longer movie, expanding upon Anderson’s story before the story is even told.

While I think it’s cool that Anderson will put a short movie in front of his big opus, I have to wonder why he didn’t just put the contents of Hotel Chavalier within Darjeeling itself. Why create the story as a separate short film if he was just going to wind up joining the two related projects anyway?
