The Roundtable discussion returns! For those new to the board, this is for more in depth discussions of movies. Tangents are frowned upon and subject to deletion.

So with that, Who is the next Julia Roberts? Who is the next young actress who can step in and fill the roles that Julia Roberts did 5-10 years ago? Is she already here in your eyes or do you see a diamond in the rough?

Looks like Reese might be the next Julia, or Kate Hudson.

I would second Reese. But we'll have to wait and see if a Pelican Brief type of movie comes up for her.

Julia Stiles. She can play America's Sweetheart, but I think she can also handle the dramas.

Either Reese Witherspoon or Kirsten Dunst, they have the talent and the stage presence to pull it off.

I say Jennifer Garner. She's got the grin, the charisma, and is instantly likable even when playing cold blooded assaisns. And thankfully she plays Cold Blooded Assains which means we don't have to sit through have of the "Tee Hee I'm just a girl, Malibu Stacy Julia Roberts shit."

I agree on Garner. She has more range than any other actress mentioned in the thread, and I'm in love with her. She wins.

Good call, EDJ, for me it's now a fight between Garner, Dunst, and Reese. And that's not a bad thing.

btw, does there only have to be ONE Julia successor?

There doesn't have to be only one...

But usually there are just a couple of actresses of every generation who really reach the top. Like Julia's status is really well and above most other actresses of her generation.

Jennifer Garner is actually a good choice. Like Julie she isn't a spectacular actress and isn't REALLY spectacularly beautiful, but her fans give her credit for being both.

:lol you rag on Jennifer Garner way more than fans praise her. :)

She's a possibility though. I like her chances.

Reese Witherspoon made a step in that direction with Sweet Home Alabama.

I really was serious about that though.

I think most of us would agree that Julia Roberts isn't REALLY the best actress of her generation (though I think she is good) nor is she the most traditionally beautiful (though she is pretty). But she IS the most famous and most successful.

I tell you who they've tried to make it be...

Cameron Diaz. Skank city, if you ask me!

To be like Julia.. you have to be attractive, and approachable. You have to also be able to act in comedies and dramas.

Scarlett Johannsen would have to be in a comedy before I'd throw her in there with some others.

Scarlett Johannsen has a promising career.
I'd add Charlize Theron to the list too, after the Oscar she is gonna be way more in demand.

Scarlett and Charlize are too good at acting.

You need someone NOT QUITE as good an actress as they are.

I completely agree with Jennifer Garner. She may not have had many great roles, but I could see her easily winning an Oscar in the near future if she chooses some good scripts.

I thing Jennifer Garner could do it but Kate Hudson & Reese is already out infront.

Hi Gunblazer! Welcome to the forum. Glad to have you.

Do you think you could size the image you are using for your signature down to something smaller? It is VERY large.
