The Dark Knight Returns - graphic novel

You'll all be happy to know that I at last picked up and read The Dark Knight Returns.

It's good. Quite good. I've never been a huge fan of Batman comics, so maybe I'm just not so experienced with them, but it's a book that really sticks with you.,

Actually, it is quite shocking really to realize how much our world, 10+ years after this book was written has gotten so close to becoming EXACTLY the world Miller has Batman in in the book.

That was really the most striking thing about it to me.

Question though... how did Batman live at the end? I don't get it. Think I missed something there.

I believe he used a drug to deceive Superman into thinking he was dead. Batman was hoping to rebuild Gotham with the help of The Sons of Batman. Remember that Superman winked at Robin at the end because he heard Batman's heart start beating.

Yeah, take another look at the end before he fights Superman and you'll notice a panel where Bruce is taking a pill that slows his heart beat to near death.

The second best Graphic novel ever.

Best is Sandman-Preludes and Nocturnes.

#3 is the Second Sandman Graphic.

Told you that graphic would make you (at least) sort of a Batman fan...

Nah, I'm not anymore a Bats fan than i ever was, just enjoyed the book. I've always liked the bats. Spidey is still preferable though :)
