Mine is the old boring one with <A HREF=http://www.cinemablend.com/feature.php?id=25>Bill Paxton</A>. That's about it really for me, not a lot of celebs in Dallas, though I don't know how I avoided them all in Austin.

I have never met any really famous celebrities. The only thing that comes even remotely close was my encounter with Jim Thome (Former 1st baseman for the Cleveland Indians) in the airport. I still have his autograph tucked away in a shoebox full of sentemental stuff.

I'm not sure if this really counts, but I am related to someone semi-famous. Margaret Landon (the woman who wrote Anna and the King of Siam which later became The King and I and various other movies) was my great aunt. Sadly she is dead now, but I remember her telling stories when I was really little.

If we're throwing in sports figures, my wife met Sean "The Mantis" Bradley of the Dallas Mavericks. She took his family portrait at the photo studio she used to work at.

It would be cool, except everyone hates Bradley on account of him being overpaid and sucky.

I was at the next urinal to Cornelius Bennett (football player) while at a Hawks playoff basketball game many years ago. My friend was on the other side of Cornelius and yelled "HOLY SHIT, I'M PEEING NEXT TO CORNELIUS BENNETT!" Cornelius rolled his eyes, did the ol tuck in, and walked out quickly. LMAO

I've also met Yannich Noah the French tennis player, Ric Flair, heck rasslers shouldn't count because since I live in Georgia, I'd run into them almost daily. Heck I think I've met about 30 rasslers.

But back to real celebrities.

While in college i managed a pharmacy. It was Halloween (during the day). Kim Basinger's mom lived a few minutes away in Athens. Well, on Halloween, a lady walks in wearing black glasses, black shirt, and a black hat. It's Kim and her mom and Kim's daughter Ireland. Well they come up to the register and I'm just nearby. The cashier doesn't recognize her but I do. She looks BETTER in person. Well since it is halloween, we have candy on the counter. I ask her if her daughter could have some candy. She said "No thank you. Today isn't a candy day" WTF.. it's halloween? lol I guess she realized the insaneness of her statement and explained that they were flying back to California in a bit and she didn't want her hyper. ahhh.

I ran into Matt Damon about 2 years ago in Savannah, Georgia. Dad gum...pretty boy... lol and nice too. I just said "Hi" in passing. I never ask for autographs. I don't see the point of em.

Oh yeah.. I have also ran into "literally", Herbie Hancock at the Atlanta airport. I also met Dominique Wilkins during the same airport trip.

I went to a show of Penn and Teller's in Athens once and a few of us got to talk to them after the show. pretty neat.

Got to help Kathy Ireland at a job I had when I was 17 (close to the peak of her career & she was wearing tight riding pants) :dance
Met Dennis Miller at a buddie's job

I'm with Matt on the autograph thing, they're pointless. And the only way I'd ever ask for one is if the person was at an autograph signing, I hate that people ask for them at restaurants and places like that.

I didn't meet Chuck Palahniuk, but I did attend his reading at B&N awhile back. He was standing on the other side of a table from me at one point. Short and very normal looking/acting guy.

I was standing outside our office building when Billy Baldwin walked in, for some reason. There's a talent agent in here, and Narciso Rodriguez too. Didn't meet him because noone realized until after he'd went in.

Bill Pullman's from my hometown. The local theater had a special showing of Spaceballs that he came to town for, and afterwards he took a bunch of kids and their parents to Friendly's for snacks and ice cream. I sat at the same table as him.
He's also a really nice guy.

I'm guessing that Broadway shows don't count, unless you get backstage after.

I can't think of any others. Oh, except when Hillary Clinton came to our town and spoke during her Senate campaign. I shook her hand. I also shook Mario Cuomo's hand when he was governor, but I was a kiddie then too.

Kathy Ireland was the funniest. I was working at a Kinko's, with three other guys (age range 17-21), and she came in with a couple other ladies. Keep in mind, she had just been on the cover of SI's swimsuit issue (betraying my age here), so then it was a near equivalent to trying to talk to Heidi Klum today. We all kept screwing up her job, unintentionally, we were just to stupified. Not a drop of smoothness in any one of us. So, she ended up spending about a half hour in our shop instead of ten minutes (which wasn't a bad thing). She was very nice about it, very mellow. I think she was somewhat used to it.
Forrest, like I said, happenend to sit down next to me at a bar in a Chili's in O'Hare. I hadn't noticed who it was next to me as I was watching some football report on ESPN on a tv over the bar. I made some muttering comment to myself about what the guy on the television was saying, Forrest made a comment back to me and we ended up talking a little sports for about five minutes. Some of the workers in the restaurant then started to recognize him and approach him, which he didn't care for, so he left.
Dennis was pretty much what you would expect. This was 6-7 years ago so he wasn't quite the political pundit that he is now. My buddy knew him fairly well and we all talked a little California politics (forget what the exact subject was). He talked much as you see him now, intelligent with a glib, sarcastic sense of humor. Cool guy.

Mr. Rogers was from around here. I met him (and other cast members from the show) a couple time when I was younger.

The only famous people I've met are hockey players that played here for the Calgary Flames farm team, the Saint John Flames. When I was younger, say about 5 years ago, they had a fundraiser called the Skate with the Flames. So, together with watching them play, I also got to skate with Martin St. Louis, Giguere, Dwayne Roloson, and about half of the current Calgary Flames team. I also have a few signed cards from these players.

That and Mariane Limperte (sp?), a Canadian swimmer who won a gold medal in 1998 or so, did a signing at some convinience store.

Oh yah, Smeg reminded me. I met Mr. Rogers , Mr. Dressup, and Sharon, Lois and Bram as a little kid when they did tours.

I met David Letterman.

Was about 10 years ago, back when he was the "other" network. Friend Phil and I went down to New York for free because he was sleeping with the Guidance Couniclor (long story, she was pyscho and later fired). She had gotten us tickets to see the show. So 18 years old, duo with my pal in New York, and had just bought new cowboy boots from this guy in a shop that looked, talked, acted, maybe even was Bo Didley.

We get into the show. Now the way it works, is they over sell the show. Well, not really sell, over give out tickets, I think the ratio is x4 to ensure that they get a packed house. So you have to line up early if you want to get. So Phil and I are there, new cowboy boots et al, 4 hrs. Finally get into the studio and get these choice seats, front row.

We were really roddy the entire time. A slew of mild mannered guys, a church group or something was behind us. During the warm up, Dave had come out to say hi, and ask where people were from. Well the guys behind us say Michigan. So, during the show, Phil and I are really hamming it up, cheering, screaming et al. So during the show, Dave refers to us numerous times as the "Boys from Michigan" that he doesnt want to "mess with". Few times the camera was on Phil and I and we got on National TV.

So.. all that. After the show, Phil and I are like the last to get out of there, as the exits were at the back, and we were right in front. So while we are waiting, this assistant with a clipboard and a headset comes by and says "Dave would like to meet you". Well, thats all we needed to hear, nothing screams official business like a headset and clipboard. So we head back between the curtains and there is Dave. We chat with him a bit about our cowboy boots and Bo Didley and he thanks us for helping make a great show. He signs and gives us each these Top 10 list books, and we were on our way.

You know how people say you look fatter on camera ? Well the space between his teeth looks wider in person =)

Hehe, actually, was just a thing to do.

We ended up in Texas 3 months later though.
I was really shocked to see how close the grassy knoll is to the road, and the actual proximity distance from the book depository to the road.

Austin was alot of fun, we were at a bar with all the old members of Stevie Ray Vaughans band. Thats where I met Jimmy Vaughan, Chris Layton and co. Great town. We stayed for the Festival De La Luna as well, was pretty wild.

Let's see who I've met:

-Years and years ago, my family and I were going to LaGuardia to take a trip to Florida, and as we were parking, Hulk Hogan stopped and asked us for directions around the area (this was in the mid to late 80's). Very nice guy, I got to take a pic with him while he posed with the title belt.

- I met The Undertaker and Paul Bearer at an autograph signing a few years later, still have the autograph, and yes, Mark Calloway IS FREAKIN TALL.

-And to wrap up the wrestling portion of my celebs, my family went to a WCW taping in Florida (MGM Studios) where we got to hang out after the show was over, and see Sting, the Nasty Boys, Sensational Sherri, and I think also Ric Flair (not sure about the last one). Very nice people, all around.

-Met Nichelle Nichols at the same trip to Florida. Forget what she said, but she was nice.

-On the way to a Mets game at Shea, we ran into Mike Piazza, as he was entering the backlot for the players, and me, my father, and my brother all joked around with him for a minute or two. Cool guy.

- At a local convention, I've met Peter David, who's very easy to talk to, and really is that big of a comic book/Sci-Fi nerd.

-I had the chance, multiple times, to talk to Harlan Ellison, but I'm not sure who'd bite the other person's head off first. So I did the wise thing and avoid him at all costs :)

- Peter Woodward was at another Convention, he was there to push Crusade, got to chat with him for a few minutes, and that one convo we had made me wish that Crusade was still on.

- Last year I went to a Mets/Phillies series out in Philly, got to the ballpark a few hours early and got Mets autographs (and Photos) from Tom Glavine, David Weathers, Grahme Llyod, Dan Wheeler, and Jason Phillips. All nice guys, and since we asked Phillips to hit a homer that day, he did. ;)

- Earlier this year, at the annual local convention (it's called I-Con, the annual Stony Brook Sci-Fi con) I met Peter Jurasik, from Babylon 5. Very jovial, we joked around for a minute or two, got some autographs, and it was very weird seeing him with curly hair.

Well, let's see here.

I'll add my Letterman story to the mix. I was in NYC for Fleet Week a few years ago, and Dave wanted to to a sailor bit for the show. So, me and a buddy went to a rehersal for it and got to meet Dave (very briefly) before the main audience was let in. Just a handshake and some polite "How do you like NY?" single questions, but he was a very nice guy. Now, we did this on a Thursday, and Letterman tapes both his Thurs. and Friday shows on Thursday.

We got to see both shows and a bunch of us were out by the stage door when Danny Divito (one of the night's guests) was leaving after one of the two shows. He completly ignored the (few) paparitizi and the authgraph hounds waiting for him. Apparently, there are people in NY who spend their free time running down celebs and trying to get autographs and whatnot, prolly to sell on ebay. Anyway, Danny ignored them all and signed a bunch of autohgraph's and posed for pictures with all us Navy boys. Also a nice guy, but he was a bit rushed to get awy from the afore-mentioned autograph hounds and photographers.

The only outher encounter that I can think of was also from a Fleet Week trip to NYC. I found myself in Central Park and wandered into a Shakespear in the Park performance of "The Winter's Tale", (Very weird show, BTW) and Bronson Pinchot (Perfect Stranger's) had a fairily large supporting role in it. After the show he was shaking hands and saying Hi to people. Nice guy again, very personable, and quite wonderful in the show. It took me most of Act I and a glance at the Playbill to even realize who he was.

Like Bob Saget, he was the "hot" thing for like 30 seconds.

Kevin Spacey's mother used to shop at the Borders I worked at, several years ago. Very nice lady, came in once a week or so, and always talked about her son.

Sadly, putting it into context would only mean adding my friend telling Sam what his name was..they really only exchanged only a few words..that's all of the story there is. I also met somebody called "Captain Hollywood" :blat
He was an American GI stationed in Germany. After he quit the army he became a breakdancer (!) and "rapper" and was actually quite popular in Europe :lol
He even hit the charts with a few cheesy dance hits but that was way back in the early 90s.
So yeah, one day me and my sister where on base in a video store looking for movies to rent and in comes "Captain Hollywood" and his buddy returning tapes.

I soooo wanted to tell him how much he sucks :lol

I met the Spice Girls :lol They were actually really nice, Ginger was more down to earth than the rest. Baby Spice was really stuck up. I also met a singer.... and the name COMPLETLY escapes me.
I also met Darryl something-or-other- who is a famous Australian guy who had a long running Saturday show with the talking Emu. And Red. The show had a mean guy named Red.

Now my other half has met a TON of people. He used to be a cook at the center in Buffalo where all the hockey games and concerts and stuff where. He's met Brittany Spears, Backstreet Boys, Sting, Kiss, umm.... I can't think of any others but there was a whole heap of people. He said Brittany is REALLY picky about her food :lol
