I can only afford this prediction:
GIANTS will win the Super Bowl. :)
I've been making that prediction since I was 12. I was right once, almost right a second time...gotta be right again someday, right?

Oh no you didn't! :no
As far as the extra wild card teams, it's an idea the competition committee has been kicking around for awhile. I wouldn't be too surprised if they did it within the next couple years.

Go Colts and Bengals!!!!! :)
I'm really hoping that someone can knock off New England this year. Preferably one of the teams listed above.

lol, Wiggum, you'd have to explain to me how the Fish are to survive the loss of Ricky Williams and still finish in 2nd place. And how the Jets- who have a healthy Chad Pennington now- will be a last place team!

I admit, it's a bit of a stretch.
Miami, with or without Ricky Williams, has always finished with about the same record over the past five or so years. They still have a very solid defense, and ok receivers.
Most of this is based off of watching the Jets play last year, just seemed that Edwards lost his team. I may be completely wrong about that, but until they show me something different I don't have a whole lot of faith in them.
Pennington is a very good quarterback, very accurate, but lacks the long ball. The team will be far better with him in the lineup, but there's still too many issues from last year before I'm sold on them.
More gut feeling than any substanial reasoning. :)
Another point is that the Dolphins have now lost their Number 1 receiver for the year as well. Boston tore up his knee I think.

They wilt in December every year. Even with Ricky Williams they were a subpar offense, with no reliable QB (after Marino) and no real major recievers to talk of. Plus, they tended to play lazy "prevent defense" whenever they had a lead under Wannstedt. Without Williams, they're going to struggle big time, they have no real time to adjust for the loss of him.

You do realize that Pennington was out for the first half of the season? And that the Jets went 1-5 to start the season, yet ended up 6-10 once Pennington came back? Edwards didn't lose the team, he just had very little to work with last year.

Pennington doesn't need to do the long ball. He's got very capable recievers in Moss, Chrebet, and McCariens now. Plus, he'll have a healthy Curtis Martin and LaMont Jordan. And a retooled special teams, both on returns and Field goals.
It all depends on how the Jets fare coming out of the gate opening the season. If their defense is aggressive (which they weren't for the past few years) they'll be very good. Having a hot Martin to begin the season would also be a bonus.
NY Giants, on the other hand, I think are going to be a work in progress. Coughlin has some great playmakers on offense and defense, but alot of holes at both positions. If he can find ways to plug the lines well enough, he'll have a good team that's playoff worthy.

Found that out later yesterday.
Boston really hasn't been very impressive since he bulked up to the size of the Hulk, and I really consider Chambers to be their primary target (probably because he's a UW alum).
Faf,
I really think that the Jets, Fish, and Buffalo are all about on the same level of mediocre and that the division after New England could really end up in any order, and really don't see any of them being playoff teams.

Well, you're comparing all of those teams to New England, which is like comparing a Taurus to a Rolls Royce. Both are good cars, but it's obvious which is better.
The Jets have the best QB and staff of the remaining teams in the division. The Bills will prob start off strong, but fade fast. The Fish won't have anything this year- except wait for the draft. And the only reason the Jets didn't go to the playoffs last year was because Pennington got hurt in preseason (and Testaverde, for all his skill, wasn't meant for the offensive system they were using). We'll see how it works out. The Jets could end up going 15-1 for all we know...or 1-15. Same for the Patriots (but that's highly unlikely :) )

I'm gonna lock this thread on Thursday. Add your predictions or edit them by then! I might have to rethink my Falcons pick after losing our best cover corner and Michael Vick's play in the West Coast offense. AHHH
