HORRIBLE! It makes my head bleed!
First off, the announcers. They always talk down to the viewers, treat us all like morons, are completely repetetive and obvious and just don't seem like they know ANYTHING. They don't even seem like they took a journalism class at any point in their lives. How many times do you have to state the obvious? Then there's the annoying habit of saying "I thought/knew that. . ." "I could've told you. . ." Knock it off! You're not a know it all, which is obvious with the rest of your commentary, you're not impressing us by acting like one. They really just suck, flat out.
Then there's the coverage of the whole thing. They seem to spend more time on talking about boring personal stories about obscure athletes than stuff that's pertinent to what we're paying attention to. Some personal stories are good, but most of them are very, very lame. And they spend a LOT of time on them. Then there's just all the useless stories (30 minutes on security detail at the Olympics?) about the events that saturate the rest of the time. STOP! PLEASE! Who wants to watch gymnastics, only to see the gymnasts occasionally in the background while some lame sideline reporter goes of a spiel about how some Russian's mother got flowers in the mail yesterday and doesn't know who they're from.
And of course, there's the fact that, even if we want to, we can't watch the Olympics live. Tape delay, or even just highlights, are great if for some reason you couldn't see an event, but most of us want to watch the event WHEN IT HAPPENS! We weren't allowed to see the opening ceremonies live. We read about our basketball team losing and only get to watch it hours and hours later. It's horrible. It's the most cockamaney, pea-brained, horrific idea I've ever seen used on sporting events (and I wasn't alive for the Heidi game).
I love the Olympics, but boy does NBC's coverage sour the whole thing.
GIVE THEM TO ESPN!!!

Sido's choice.

I have no interest in the Olympics.

Doesn't suck so much for me. CBC over NBC any day.

Sido's choice, not watching it.

I've been too confused by it to be able to form an opinion.
The Olympics are on Bravo for Pete's sake.
Although, I have been able to watch the events that I've wanted to, so it hasn't been all bad.

Americans don't care about the Olympics, thus the coverage sucks.

I must admit I can't work up even an ounce of enthusiasm for them, especially when apparently our Olympic Basketball players can't either.

*yawn*

There are few things on the planet more boring than the Summer Olympics. The Winter Olympics at least have a few mildly interesting sports, but most Americans could care less about gymnastic floor excercies.

SO boring.

In some other countries these things are more beloved, but we all think they are a waste of time... and I think that feeling has only grown moreso in the past few years. Thus the coverage reflects that.

I think it blows. I have only have the choice of watching on NBC, and I dislike the fact that they ONLY show other teams when they are directly competing against the US, or are a direct threat to the US. I saw 2 other teams on the gymnastic rotation in the background during the US/Ukraine (?) Trials... but they said nothing about them.

All due respect Legna, but you're watching from US soil. NBC is going to devote their time to the US teams. They have done a decent job on their satellite channels showing other countries in competition (I'm assuming your not getting cable, hence aren't able to watch them.)

I should rephrase that..... they were showing womens gymnastics at the time, and 4 teams are doing the rounds at any time, but they only showed the Ukrain team whom the US were competing against. They didn't show any of the Russian or other teams that were also competing at the time the US were.
