The Hawks will stink like no team has stunk before. We have no point guard. We have no center. GAHHHH

Hobbit, the Mavs are signing Erick Dampier today. Good big man. Maybe over priced but I wanted him to sign with the Hawks.

as a major Dallas fan, I say no. the mavs gave up way too much for him. I don't even see what Cuban is trying to do anymore. he's just getting rid of multiple players and draft picks just for star players. It's not going to work. they brought too many stars on board last season and they lost the touch they had when the only true stars were nash, finley and nowitzki. Now Nash is gone anyways, so I don't see Dallas working. Nash has the speed and agility and the technique to keep the mavs moving and stay creative. Dallas was all about the fast break, without Nash there is no fast break.

and they gave up Eduardo Najara! I mean, he doesn't come off as a good player compared to some of the talents on Dallas, but he is one of the better defensive players, and he's always really into the game and gets everyone way more invloved than normally, always pushes for the ball.

but seriously, no Nash, no team. I think Jason Kidd would be the only replacement. although they want to aquire him next year anyways.

Are you kidding me Sean? This is the first decent trade that Dallas has made.

They basically traded Eddie for Dampier!!

I like Najara too, but he's not even 1/10 the player that Dampier is. It's a good trade man, I don't know how you can possibly rip them for that!!

IF Dampier plays like he did last year, you won't even remember the name Nash.

Yes, they need a good point guard, but a big man like Dampier is a million times harder to find than a good point guard.

Dallas has a couple of players who have already proven themselves at the point guard position, and while they won't be as good as Nash, they'll be ok.

And they've MASSIVELY upgraded at Center... which also means that Dirk can now play is natural position.

Dallas is in a LOT better shape with Dampier.

Matt, were the Hawks in the running for him?

It's a tough thing with Dampier. No one is sure if what he did last year was an abberation or not. If it wasn't, he's going to be huge in Dallas. If it was Dallas is still better off because even a bad Dampier is an upgrade at center for Dallas. Dallas has NEVER had a real center, good, bad, or otherwise.
