But after a month of Willis declaring a sequel was imminent, Director M. Night Shyamalan quickly squelched all talk, leading fans to believe any hope for a follow up was dead.
Now, with Night's next film Signs headed for release, M. Night is making the interview rounds and he's talking Unbreakable again! In his most recent interview, when asked if we'll ever see Unbreakable 2 Night revealed that he is once again considering it. But says Night, "I don't know, I was a little dissapointed in the split reaction."
Hopefully, Shyamalan won't let the polarized opinions of critics and audiences influence him. Any film which can create such an emotionally polarized response from the public, such a split love/hate influence, has to be doing something right. The brilliance of Unbreakable is one of the rare movies that demands and DESERVES a sequel. Willis has been eager to entertain one in the past, maybe Night is a little closer to a commitment.
