It's tough.
But I gotta go with Sweetness.
Jim Brown. 5.2 yards a carry and quit in his prime. Walter is my favorite back though.

Love Brown. Watching the highlights of him running, insane. Same with Sayers.

Hard. . . I haven't voted yet.
Payton did everything he could possibly do, played with nothing in front of him for the longest time, and basically just ground out the rushing record and lasted for a LONG time. He was a great blocker, a great reciever and even a great passer.
Jim Brown was an AMAZING runner, but he didn't do all of his job. He refused to block which, as a fullback, is kind've important.
Gayle Sayers I believe had the most talent period of any running back in his ability to run, but. . . wouldn't staying healthy be a key part of the job? Runningback is brutal, and those who survive are truly great. . .
Gosh, so hard because the word is "best," not greatest. You could make the argument for Bo Jackson, too. And I didn't even touch Barry Sanders for reasons I could go into, but he was my favorite to watch. When he'd actually get forward yardage.
And what about my avatar?
