Peril-on-a-submarine movie starring Harrison Ford & Liam Neeson. A Russian nuclear submarine's reactor begins leaking coolant and it becomes a race against time to stop it before the entire crew die in a nuclear meltdown.

Slightly controversial movie considering the frighteningly similar real-life Kursk incident last year where a whole crew died...

In an upcoming television spot promoting this movie it has been noted that the director is referenced to as the DGA standard "Alan Smithee". This would suggest director Katheryn Bigalow (Strange Days, Point Break) has disassociated herself from the movie.

Usually in Hollywood this means there's been a bust up between the studio and the director over how the final product should turn out or something similar (CF: Hellraiser: Bloodline & the extended cut of Dune).

Usually the stamp of a movie that will suck...

According to Coming Attractions, Director Katheryn Bigelow has NOT removed her name. Apparently just some mix up on the preview.

And a little tidbit from there that I did not know. The Director's Guild of America has stopped using the Alan Smithee alias. Now, directors get to choose their own!
