This is some of the most bizzare news I've heard in a while, but I'm not really opposed to it for some reason. :lol

If Tarantino wants to waste his time on a Jason movie, let him.

I don't see how the franchise really needs to be revived...there are a lot better ideas out there in the genre that Tarantino could delve into.

It's such a total waste of the guys' talents.

Granted, he might do something good for the whole Jason franchise... but **** that. There are so many BETTER things that Tarantino could be doing. It's a total goddamn waste.

I'm kinda dumbfounded by this.

You see to me this seems like something he'd pop out in six weeks and then move onto the next thing. It's snack food and what can I say I like snack food.

And to be quite frank I'm happy to have him do ANYTHING again. I mean which would be the greater waste of his talent Doing a quick film, or spending seven years with his thumb up his ass ala from Jackie Brown to Kill Bill.

He'll probably drag this "quick film" out for 7 years.

i would love to see Tarantino do a horror movie, but not another Jason flick. Just end the series already

I'm excited by it, at least. The franchise really doens't need to end, as many many many people LOVE it.

That's not really a good comparison.

What would you like me to use then?

The Rocky movies?

The Godfathers?

There are many examples. Then there are the films that didn't know when to quit (some still don't) and have suffered for it.

Either way, just because a relative handful of people out there would like to see a franchise drawn out into oblivion doens't make it a good idea.

My theory is similar to EDJ's. It's something he'll be able to polish off quickly, and move onto his next project. Hell, why not give him a shot at making a really great Jason flick?

Because it's like suggesting Spielberg make Baby Genius 3. Could he do it? Sure. Would it be better than the other two? Probably. Would it be a waste of his time? Definitely.

It might be a waste of his time, but it would still be pretty cool to see what he would do with that type of film.

Try the Bond films, Deus.

And the Friday the 13th series is FAR from Baby Geniuses. I know it's just your opinion. If you don't want to watch a movie, then don't. Nobody will make you. So this rumor isn't hurting anybody.

Another reason is, I wasn't able to see horror films when I was younger, so I had no chances to see any of the F13 films (which I love), in the theater, apart from Freddy Vs. Jason. The same goes for the ANOES series. My only chances were New Nightmare and Freddy Vs. Jason.

Bond lends itself to addistional episodes. The Jason films just don't, hence the crazy lengths people will go to make a Jason film...Jason 'n Freddy...Jason in the future...etc.

The Baby Genius to Spielberg comparison fits with the Jason to Tarantino match up. I'm not comparing the movies to each other, but the director/movie match up. It would be a waste of Tarantino's style and time to make a Jason flick.

There are obviously people who disagree and want to see Tarantino do this. That's fine. I still think there are better things he could be doing.

He made Kill Bill because he loved a certain genre. That'd most likely be the same reason he'd make an F13 film.

Tarantino's creative enough that if he wanted to do slasher/horror flick he could come up with something, much as he did with Kill Bill, without being limited to a Jason plot line.

Well, with BTTF it was more that they really couldn't afford to continue financially at the time. I'm sure we would have seen at least one more if money wasn't an issue

Empireonline has a quote from QT saying this rumor is false.

What’s happening with Friday The 13th? Nothing at all! It’s a complete lie. I like Jason and everything, but I’ve no intention of directing a movie! New Line talked to me about it, but it was a complete fabrication, that article. I would love to do a horror film. I’m just saying it’s not going to be Friday The 13th…”
