OK, just bought this Clive Barker book from Amazon. Anyone read it?

haven't read it, but i snuck a look at it at amazon and it looks really good. i might buy it myself if it weren't for the other ten books or so i'm currently trying to get through. :) it'll definitely be in my next batch though.

some of the reviews suggested that this was one of Barker's harder works to read, and that those not familar with his stuff should start elsewhere. not sure if you've read a lot of his stuff or not.

anyway, feel free to give us a review when you're done with it! :D

I've read Cabal and Hellbound Heart (which contains an extract of Imajica as an extra at the back), but none of his full length novels.

well you've definitely picked a full-length one this time (nearly 1000 pages :eek).

also, i gather this isn't barker's typical horror novel...seems to be more in the epic fantasy vein.

It is Fantasy and in my opinion its prettty damn good. Comes down to tastes I guess, but it was different enough as fantasy to hold my attension for the 3 days it took me to read it.

I might have to give Barker a try. Never read him before.

3 days? Damn, even I'm not that fast of a reader. I usually can squeeze out a 100 a day.

Dont worry about how fast you read. I tend to read fast now just from the sheer volume of books I buy. I usually spend 100$ - 200$ on books every couple of weeks now and I guess from continueously jumping from one book to the next my speed has picked up. The strange part is that to me it feels like its conversational speed.
