April's Author of the Month is Agatha Christie in honor of the movie Identity, which comes out next Friday. Identity has a storyline loosely based on the sleuth master's book 'And Then There Were None'.

Anyone read this or any of her other books? Comments on the books or the author?

Agatha Christie is often counted as one of the best and most widely read mystery writers of all time. if you like mysteries, Agatha writes perfect summertime reads, especially in the Hercule Poirot series.

discuss discuss discuss. and then see the movie. :)

I always confuse her with Angela Landsbury.

What's up with that Angela Landsbury anyway? Why is she so nosy?

Actually, I hane only read the play the story was based on called Ten Little Indians. Plus, I've seen the play The Mousetrap, which is based on another one of her stories. Personally, on a whole, I'm not big on reading mysteries. Just hard for me to get into. I really want to see this movie though.

Christy is OK but I prefer Crime Novels Like Elmore Lenords to Mystery Novels.

so yeah. i read Evil Under the Sun not too long ago. it's about a murder at a resort off the coast of England. Much confusion and pointing of fingers abounds. Not bad, but the whole time i was so annoyed with the round-about story-telling that i was always itching just to jump to the end and get the story done with. not sure if that's a good sign or not.

i should adimit i'm not a huge mystery fan either. but as far as mysteries go i haven't found her stuff to be terrible. I hear Ten Little Indians is a fairly good play. I hope Identity turns out well too. looks good at least.

:tangent The Last Unicorn? I remember seeing the animated movie when I was way young. I must've been 4 at the time.

I would have thought Angela Landsbury would be dead by now. She looked to be in her 80's 20 years ago. Are we certain she isn't just a re-animated corpse at this point? Perhaps her heirs are playing a "weekend at Bernie's" style joke on us?

Yeah I know, but she looks like King Tut's grandma.

supposedly this live action version is the european response to LOTR. Could be good. The director on it has done work on Gilliam films in the past.
