twas alright, I sappose. I thought it would have been much funnier then it ended up being, but it was still quite funny.
I'm trying to remember what my favorite part of the movie was, but I can't think of it, I believe it was around the begining. I just don't remember laughing REALLY hard at any parts.
I still enjoyed it though, just thought i'd laugh more. Saw Anger Managment too, thought it was funnier.

I think I laughed most when he was doing his newscasts. I'm glad Jim is back into comedies. A bit sappy in the end, but very Enjoyable. Great Review Hobbit!

Yeah, I thought this movie was pretty bad. Jim Carrey buffooning around, causing meteors to hit Earth doesn't hit my funny bone. It was SO obvious he was straining for laughs. It's not terrible, though, and it's certainly not as Bringing Down the House. Oh, and the touchy-feely ending. Bleh.
I must just be a sap... that must be why I like it so much :)

Oh yeah, that part and the part where he made Steve Carell (a very funny man completely out his element here) mess up his speech patterns got the largest laughs out of the audience. I was the only one with a blank stare on my face, not laughing. Oh well. To each his own.

Personally I liked Carrey's serious side, truly enjoying his performances in Man in the Moon and The Truman Show, not to mention how spectacular The Majestic (http://www.filmhobbit.com/cgi-bin/movies/movies.cgi?action=showreview&review=majestic) was. (Yeah, yeah, a small piece of hype for one of my few reviews here... so sue me :) ).
I found Bruce Almighty to be quite humorous, and a fun, thoughtful film. I liked how it posed things and, as an agnostic, felt it did an admirable job discussing faith without delving into the nuclear nightmares that so many other books, movies, comic books, etc go into. It's serious sides felt reachable and something I could relate to, but nothing that offended either me or my christian girlfriend.
Best line of the movie: Behind every successful man is a woman rolling her eyes. I would bet that's as true for furfoot as it is for the rest of us. :)
heh yes Taln, it is true. :)
I'm with you on how it dealt with religion, really enjoyed the way they handled it.
I maintain that Carrey's only GREAT serious performance was Man on the Moon... and that was SO great because 90% of the role afforded him opportunities to be funny. Movies like Truman Show and Majestic I really enjoyed... but would have preferred him being funny.
Bruce Almighty wasn't downright hilarious, but I enjoyed it quite a bit. Like Reservoir, I think I liked Anger Management a bit more. But this one still made me laugh more often than not (I'm with NotSo, the anal butt monkey and the speech impediment weren't that funny though).
I've never seen any movie make so much money but generate so LITTLE actual interest. This movie made X2 money.... yet no one is talking about it. No one is searching for it on the web either if my current stats are any judge.
Is it something people are just seeing on a whim and then forgetting about afterward? It is rather fun but forgettable.

I saw it this weekend. Very enjoyable. Very funny. Not Carrey's best(that distinction goes to The Mask and Liar, Liar), but it is so great to see him do comedies again. Loved the Ace Ventura references with Spike making a cameo as the butt monkey and Morgan Freeman saying alrighty then. Loved the fact Morgan was wearing a Yankees cap too.
Ace Ventura references... you mean the part where he almost started talking with his butt? hehe.

He's talking to Anniston, and is at a point in their conversation where he is about to make an important point and stops and goes to sit down on the couch next to her... only when he does it he swings his butt up in the air next to the camera, pauses just long enough to make you think he's going to start flapping his cheeks... and sits down.
Ok, maybe it was only funny to me, heh

my jaw dropped when I saw it topped Matrix, not only did it top it, but it made 93MILLION!!!!!!!! I NEVER saw that coming, i would have said $20m.
93 million?? you mean over a 4 day period? Labor Day weekend? Over the three day period it did not make that much. :)
I finally saw Bruce Almighty last nice. Pretty good movie.
But I'm still bothered by Jim Carrey. When he tones it down it's great. Yet every so often, he couldn't resist his damn overacting. It is soooo annoying. Still a very good flick.

That was definitely the best part of the movie. That and Jim Carrey getting Mango's orgasm implanter early.
