Has anyone watched the series. I am so happy they came out with the trilogy. It excitied me to death. Does anyone love the series like I do??

You talking animated series or just the movies.
I'm sure there's a rule that (with the exception of TheTick who hates almost everything, lol) you must love BTTF movies to post here.
If not, I just made it.
the chicken dude
07-17-2003, 05:59 PM
You must?? What a rule. Well, I do. So I can post!! :)
BTTF is an excellent work of cinema. He who dislikes it should be beaten.
the chicken dude
07-17-2003, 06:14 PM
I'd say very few people will be beaten than.

It's on the list with the likes of E.T. - Movies That You Must Like If You Are Remotely Human.

I have watched bits and pieces of E.T, it looked cool.

Back to the Future is pretty damn good.

I love the first movie. I think it's brillaint. But Part 2 is too gimicky, but it has an interesting twist around halfway through. Part 3 is just not cool. I don't know why they had to make a western comedy.

I have only just recently watched Back to the Future. I don't know why I didn't watch it sooner! Back to the Future is one of those movies that just grabs you and won't let go.
Hey, what happened to 'cute and fluffy'?

The first one is excellent. The 2nd one is slightly inferior but its still cool because they do to the future and the fact that there is a parallel world. Part 3 is alright but nowhere near as good as the first 2.
the chicken dude
07-18-2003, 03:29 PM
I agree with about everyone. The first two parts were WAY better than the 3rd one. The 3rd one bores me to death. I wish they would have used another idea for it, instead of going to the west.

07-18-2003, 05:40 PM
I wouldn't say 2 was gimmicky at all, actually Id say it was quite creative......whenever John Q. Public goes to see a sequel, there's a piece of them that wants to see the original again. BTTF Part II did that, literally. No other sequel has gone back and interacted with the original, the continuity is flawless. (with or without Crispin Glover)Where by in some sequels when they go back to a location that was in early parts of the series it goes through a metamorphasis of some kind. (i.e. Michael Myers house)It's a true trilogy, not like movies that come out and the writer says "I always imagined it as a trilogy" and it doesn't quite pan out the same way. BTTF,technically, takes place over the course of 3 days in 1985. That's one hell of a weekend. Part I is the introduction, part II where Time Travel is all over the place, and Part III is the end of their Time Warp. Part II & III pick up about -90 seconds after it's previous movie.....most sequels & trilogies have years in between and the continuity is off. It's this link that binds these movies as a whole. The only other sequel to even attempt a true continuation of the original was Halloween II (I apologize for all the Halloween examples, but you get my point). And the only other series with flawless continuity as BTTF is Lethal Weapon.
the chicken dude
07-18-2003, 05:42 PM
I agree completely. When they go back and save the real 1985 and all. The 2nd one DID make me go back and watch the 1st one again. It is just a true trilogy. You could put all three movies together into one and they would actually make one movie.
Bordick
07-18-2003, 05:43 PM
The only obvious change though was the Jennifer Parker switcharoo, but I've never heard anyone complain of that recast. Hell, I don't.
the chicken dude
07-18-2003, 05:44 PM
Well, it wasn't to obvious until I watched the DVD special features.
Yeah, I was so happy when they finally released the trilogy on DVD. The BTTF films have always been favorites of mine. And I do agree with the rest of you that think they should have gone somewhere else besides the West with the third film, but it still works, and I enjoy the movie..just not nearly as much as the first two.
the chicken dude
07-18-2003, 05:51 PM
Yeah, me too. I was so happy. I remember watching it on TV and I said " I wonder if this is going to ever come out with a three DVD or VHS set " Than my brother went and found out it was just recently planned to. That was sort of freaky.
Bordick
07-18-2003, 05:55 PM
Not too obvious? When I was a kid I knew Part I like the I knew my freakin' ABC's......The opening scene in Part II I was like "Isn't that the Karate Kid's girlfreind?". Even after when Elizabeth Shue weant on to do other things, and Part I would be on like USA or something you couldn't tell it wasn't the same person? That's quite odd.......also in response to not liking the west angle......where would they go, the renaissance? The 60's have been done to death, as have the 70's. If they went any farther back in time there would be nobody there. California and the west coast doesn't really have a rich history.
Well, they had come out with the single VHS releases for each film a long time ago, but I knew they would finally make a DVD trilogy one day.
the chicken dude
07-18-2003, 05:56 PM
Yeah, I am glad they did make a trilogy on DVD, with the special features and how they made it. I love those. :D
Bordick
07-18-2003, 05:57 PM
Yeah, the video set had been around for like 13 years, where have you been?
the chicken dude
07-18-2003, 05:58 PM
Not looking, I guess.
Bordick
07-18-2003, 06:06 PM
I would've like to seen the initial Eric Stoltz footage, but it will remain a mystery
the chicken dude
07-18-2003, 06:13 PM
What did Eric Stoltz do?
Bordick
07-18-2003, 06:16 PM
They have pictures of him in scenes on the DVD buit not the actual footage, he was the original Marty McFly but got canned mid shoot, than Michael J. took over.
Michael J. Fox is way better suited for the role, but that's probably only because that's what I have grown up with for all these years, heh.
the chicken dude
07-18-2003, 10:52 PM
I couldn't imaging BTTF without Michael. He was just so good.
Neither could I, he just defines his characters role.
the chicken dude
07-18-2003, 11:03 PM
Well, if he would've Eric did do it, and Michael was where Eric was, we would be saying we couldn't imagine it with Micheal. It's just that the first person who does it you don't think anyone can do better, I guess.
But I doubt that Eric Stoltz would have been able to carry the role as Marty McFly as well as Michael J. Fox in the first place, but I get what you are saying.
Bordick
07-19-2003, 02:17 AM
But Look who won that war, Stoltz is having 3-ways on Showtime while Michael J. is struggling to live................that's F'ed up.....I'm kidding, but I'm not......I'm out
In my opinion, Michael J. Fox won the war; he is a screen legend in not only the BTTF films, but a lot of other older 80's and early 90's films..I've never really paid much attention to Stoltz to tell you the truth.
Bordick
07-19-2003, 04:12 AM
I was being sarcastic......but MJF might've become a "screen legend", but the reason you haven't paid attention to Stoltz is because he does cool indy shit most of the time. Him and James Spader are the 80's actors who do that now, and well I might add.
the chicken dude
07-19-2003, 12:52 PM
Yeah, a few weeks ago on one of the tabloids it said MJF was sturuggling to speak now. :(

That's true, I'll give you that.
And chicken dude, he has Parkinsons (sp?) disease now.:(

That's kinda what the producers and director figured and hence why he got the boot...

But there is one shot in BTTF 1 that is Eric Stoltz that they didn't cut out, but you wouldn't recognize him

Think I remember something about that, isn't it a distance shot of him diving into the DeLorean in the mall carpark?

at the Twin Pines/Lone Pine Mall.......When the Libyans come.......don't try and pause it, you can't tell. Trust me
the chicken dude
07-19-2003, 09:25 PM
I have always wondered, why does the mall's name change..?
Bordick
07-19-2003, 09:29 PM
WOW!!!!!!!! You see it's called the Twin Pines Mall in the Beginning, Marty Travels back in time to the Twin Pines Ranch in 1955 and drives over one of the pine trees....hence it became the Lone Pine Ranch then later the Lone Pine Mall. Oy....I could've sworn that was blatently obvious

Why does chickendude always have the same post count?
And why does a lover of the films, who has seen the DVD's to boot, not know about the Twin/Lone Pine(s) Mall thing?
This thread makes me go, "hmmmmmm..."

ChickenDude is 11.
And the post count is a total post count, not a post count of how many were posted up to that post. Make sense? Dunno if that did. He stopped posting, and I weep in his absense.

BTTF sadly came to late to save the Delorean car itself, i bet if some company got the rights to the cars today they would be hugely popular due to the BTTF movies.
