View Full Version : Explain Your Username
For some, like me, it is obvious. For others possibly not. Explain the meaning/inspiration for choosing your username!
Go ahead Crappertay, explain it for the 50th time.
Abscynthe
01-03-2009, 12:32 PM
Mine was started years and years ago, when I was trying to go through a Goth phase (I wanted to, but it just wasn't me). I wanted to do Absinthe, the correct spelling, but since I think every other Goth girl out there had that, I changed the spelling. I actually was Abscynthe02 when I signed up on the old ezboard, but have since had the 02 dropped.

I went through a series of different names. I settled on this because of the use of my bad language and I used to pirate porn. I pirated over 2 terabytes of porn in the last few years so the name kind of fits.
I used to have a Dr in front of my name, no idea why, but that got dropped at some point, I think at the insistence of Into.
:lol I vaguely remember that, Mack.

01-03-2009, 02:15 PM
This was actually a topic I had in mind to post, but never seemed to get around to it (honestly!). But anyhow here's mine.
The 1st 2 letters, AK, are the initials of my real first and last name, then the maro is short for Camaro which was my first car I ever had that wasn't a hand me down from my parents or something. So I thought it would be a cool screen name to blend the two into AKmaro1 or ( a camaro 1). The 1 was just added on when I had to change my AOL screen name one time (it was and still is my AOL screen name). So that's it, oh and I did get a little inspiration for the concept from a buddy of mine who did something similar when he had his AOL screen name, but his didn't involve a car though....

Intolerance, Tool song that I thought sounded cool as a username. Got chopped down to "Into" once Josh started calling me that. Some other people called me "Intol", but I didn't like that.
And it's pronounced "In-toh" not "In-too"

Bordick
01-03-2009, 11:04 PM
For mine. Hmmm.....how do I explain this?......Um, it's an inside term amongst myself, my older brother, and his ol' high school buddies turned stoner roommates back in '01 & '02 which roughly translates to the average folk as "Since you're up, get me a beer!".
I'll refrain from the long complicated diatribe connecting the evolution of the term to this ex-MLB short stop:

Anywho, so yeah, it means "Get me a beer!" :lol

Pwalex
01-04-2009, 10:45 AM
Mine is a nickname that my friends gave me back when I was 13 or so. It's short for "Poor Alex" which they all started chanting at me one day when I was in a shitty mood. They later decided to shorten it to "Pwalex" as a more irritating way of chanting it. Naturally I hated it at first, but eventually it just stuck...
I shall never call "LEG" "NA" by "LEDGE" "NA". That ain't right. :lol

Dog Welder
03-24-2009, 04:25 PM
Dog Welder was the result of a drunken contest between writer Garth Ennis and his buddies (comic book artists John McCrea and Steve Dillon). Garth challenged the group to come up with the lamest super hero name possible and Steve Dillon quickly blurted out "Dog Welder," ending the contest as quickly as it started.
Some time later, Ennis was writing his comic book "Hitman" and asked Steve if he could use his "creation." Dillon, of course, didn't care (not like there's a lot of licensing opportunities on the name).
The hero Dog Welder was born. He was drawn by John McCrea as a thin man in a welder's mask with an acetylene torch and a utility belt from which he hangs dead dogs. He's a "clinically insane" super hero vigilante who welds dogs to the faces of evildoers. Dog Welder, and his entire super hero team Section 8 (a team full of insane super heroes), were killed in one of the final issues of Hitman.
The name just sounded odd so I started using it when I signed up over at Fark.com.

I joined this message board at like 4 in the morning after going to the midnight showing of Return of the King. A Google search for "Orcs" or something like that and I joined in my hype after seeing the movie, and, influenced by the bad assness of the Witch King of Angmar, I made that my screen name.
It's one of the only message boards where I don't go by "philkid3." After a few years, Matt mentioned that Witch King of Angmar was too long, and I agreed, so it was shortened to just Witch King.

Cup of Jabba
04-01-2009, 06:26 PM
It case anyone didn't get it. Like the name Cinemablend, my name is a blend of movies and coffee. "Cup of Jabba" sounds similar to a Cup of Java (With Java (http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=java) being another word for coffee). And the word "Jabba" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jabba_the_Hutt) is obviously based off the popular Star Wars character of the same name.
Hence, the name Cup of Jabba.
Cup of Jabba is still one of the best usernames ever. I remember the day you joined the site. Josh or Stuart one sent me an IM saying "Holy crap, best user name ever!" :lol
