I love all Metallica, up until the black album, but they don't come close to Ray, Jim, John, and Bobby.

The hard long looks at their drug addiction in Master of Puppets or Sanitarium? Their political battles in Justice for All and Some Kind of Monster? Their battles against Alcholism in Frantic and Sweet Amber?

Metallica has at least had the strength to look at themselves and their rage to change is what makes them so great. The Doors just made semi intresting bad poetry while blinding themselves as they rotted on the vine.

As for the Black Album on up, I still love those albums but they simply don't touch those first four albums.

Metallica all the way for sure for me. Everything up until the Black album is ****ing classic. I never did get into The Doors much.
