This is an evil choice.

Collective Soul is a brilliant band.

Dosage is one of the most truly perfect albums, from start to finish that I've ever had the privledge to own.

I love REM... but REM has never put out a perfect album.

On the other hand... I think REM had a HUGE impact on what music was and what it has become. They've put out some amazing music that flat out changed well everything.

What both bands have in common is that their most recent album's suck.

Collective Soul's last two have been very poor.

And REM hasn't put out anything truly great since "Man on the Moon"

I hate not voting for Collective Soul, because honestly, I think Dosage may be my favorite album of all time... but as a band, REM wins out.

Yep. Love that album. But there are a couple of so-so songs on there. Not bad mind you, but a couple of not quite as great ones.

I can never win at this. I decided to replace a newer band with Collective Soul because so many people complained and said if they had thought about it, they would've nominated them. Now, no ones voting for them. Oh well, I want REM to win anyways. :D

Collective Soul is a great band, but I am going to have to give this one to REM. I'm not going to go into a big debate and pick everything out between the two, but I just enjoy REM's music more.:/

Automatic for the people is a God send.

Actually I lived in Athens, GA for a long time. The home of REM and the University of Georgia. It is one of the coolest damn cities I've ever visited.

I used to eat at Weaver D's the man where they got the Automatic for the people line. Damn fine sould food Weaver D's had!!


Automatic for the People is as close to perfect as a record can be.

Collective Soul is a good band. Not a great band.


I agree REM hasn't put out as many great albums recently but they are much older and Berry's gone.

I've met Michael Stipe more than any other celebrity. He walks around Athens all the time. Damn if he doesn't look like he needs to eat though. The last few times I saw him , he was at the Barnett Bookstore in downtown Athens.
