The Sabs. Heavier then God, Louder then Satan.

My favorite band of all time.

There have been other bands like Sabbath, but none like the Clash.

Joe Strummer was still doing great things when he recently passed away. Ozzie is running around picking up dog poo on his own reality show. That says all there needs to be said, as far as their greatness.

As someone who has been an Ozzy fan for 13 years let me say on behalf of all his true fans that we hate that ****ing show.

Now lets look at some of his other accomplishments.

1. Ozzy has been in this business for four decades. He has never released an album (with or without The Sabs) that hasn't debuted in the Top Ten, and has never had an album sell under platinum.

2. At a time when Metal was dead he created Ozzfest, and not only managed to do more then hold his own against the New Breed but cropped up a whole new generation of Metal Bands and Fans.

3. Ozzy has also managed to stay contraversal for longer then any flavor of the week have. Sure today he's America's favorite old geezer but a mere five years ago he was fending off attacks by Jerry Fawell that he was a cannabilist.

4. He's old enough to be a grandad and he still remains an icon for youthful rage and rebellion. How ****ING HARDCORE IS THAT. Hell John Lennon couldn't even do that!

So Ozzy has managed to stay relevant, popular, and hardcore in a nortoriously fickle industry for forty years, resurrected his artform and still scares the crap out of the Religious Right despite being in Pepsi commercials and a TV show that makes him a buffoon. I mean Eminem is America's favorite soccer dad now and he didn't even do anything to make himself look nice.

****ING OZZY

Joe Strummer et al did not need to resort to biting heads of bats or any of that childish nonsense, to attract attention.

I mean, look at the name of the band: Black Sabbath--how better to say "We are BAD -- no, really, we're like, REALLY, REALLY BAD! And all you pubescent, rebellious boys who wanna be bad also, you oughta buy our stuff! We'll really scare your parents! Look, we'll bite the head off of this here bad, that's how BAD we are!"

Marilyn Manson is today's Ozzie Osborne.

When today's Marilyn Manson fans have their own children, there'll be another boogie-man freak to take his place--basically, there'll always be an Ozzie, because there's always been an Ozzie.

Its Ozzy, and I have a question have you ever listened to Black Sabbath. And I don't mean just Paranoid and Iron Man I mean lesser no songs. No? Well lets see do you listen to punk? Yes? So you enjoy Punk? Well then your indept to Sabbath because both Joey and DeeDee Ramone have gone on record as saying that if it wasn't for Sabbath they'd never have existed. As for your Marlyin Manson Comparison. He's a joke. Its been Five years since he broke out and he's already a ****ing has been crock. Ozzy has stayed commericially and musically viable for FORTY YEARS. You're right their has always been an Ozzy and its the ****ing same one. As for stupid lyrics. You might be intrested to know that Black Sabbath is a reference to Tony Iommi's favorite film (A thirties picture with Boris Karloff) Their songs have nothing to do with the supernatural and aren't about being shocking, they're about realizing your addicted to late (Changes), Vietnam (Children Of the Grave) and about battles with the mind and ego (Snowblind). You sell them way to short and I doubt you've listened to five of their songs.

Oh and if by Joe Strummer was doing great things you mean marching in a single protest for firefighters and doing nothing else for the cause cuz hey He's Joe Strummer. And playing around with that band (the name escapes me at the moment) which even he admits was just a rehash of The Clash, well then yeah great things indeed.

Both my nominations, which sucks.
All I've got to say is.....
LONDON CALLING!
One of the most innovative, complete albums of all time.
The Clash are punk rock!

EDJ, I don't mind a little enthusiasm in a debate, but you're making assumptions about what I have, and have not listened to, and that's just not something you wanna do.

Now, the votes seem to favor Sabbath, and I guess that's what counts.

I'm sure I can't prove that you are wrong about Sabbath being a better band than the Clash, or that anyone can prove to anyone, that one band is better than another; no one can. It's a matter of taste. And there's no right or wrong when it comes to that one.

Although I was never a fan, I certainly have listened to more than five of their tunes. Ozzy has endured, but in a word of pop culture, that means less than nothing. That's like saying Garfield and The Family Circus is better than Far Side and Calvin and Hobbes.
