I haven't really participated in this, but I have to say, the Velvet Underground losing to Soundgarden is a travesty. One is one of the greatest, most influential bands of all time (Velvet Underground), the other is just another in that "Grunge revolution" of the early '90s (that'd be Soundgarden).
