It works well as just being a stand alone, I mean at least Fox is totally cool with DD doing just that(Elektra aside). I mean can there be a comic book super hero movie without a sequel?

And I think now that we've got the origin, I think we can have a lot more fun with the sequels
In other words, they realize that the first film was a humorless gargoyle of a movie. But anyways, I am really against a sequel being made. I think Hulk works very well as a stand-alone film, even though it is flawed. I never saw this character with the same franchise potential as Spider-Man or the X-Men, for several different reasons. But having the grey hulk in the sequel would be an ok start.
Then there's the box-office to consider. Hulk had tremendous drops in business, and set the record for biggest second weekend drop for a #1 film ever (-69.7%). Not to mention, critics and audiences were kind of neutral to the whole thing. No one hated it, but no one loved it. Kind of the way Daredevil was received. Hulk is also one of those movies that grossed the least possible amount of money that it could ($132 million). So unless they make the sequel some testosterone-pumped Godzilla knockoff, this sequel could tank very badly. Think "Tomb Raider 2."
I think they should ditch this idea, and start working on Daredevil 2. I think they could approach DD2 the same way they did with X2: knowing that there were flaws in the original, and setting out to make one giant, badass sequel.
Or it could end up like Tomb Raider 2 also.

Not happening, only the Elektra spin off.
and DD doesn't have nearly the potential that the first X-Men movie did.

I know they probably won't do DD2, but I still think they should. A lot more potential there then in Hulk 2 or...yuck...Elektra.

I spoke prematurely about the "Universal" part.... (http://www.filmhobbit.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&postid=48517#post48517)
There's nothing wrong with an Elektra flick. Beats Catwoman EVERY day of the week.

True, but why do a spinoff before they even start a sequel. Does Fox really think that the best part about Daredevil was that character?!?

Wait a minute - you question the sexuality of those who don't find Halle Berry all that great, but you say Garner is overrated???
