Jerry "I'm so rich, I cum oil" Bruckheimer spares no expence to set sail on sensational swashbuckling summer sequel of the sea. (http://www.filmhobbit.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=5296)

Like the Hulk, I feel that they should leave this film as a one-er, simply because it does not leave an opening for a sequel. Films like this, Hulk, and The Fast & The Furious should not have sequels because the originals should be left alone. Pirates of the Caribbean was a pretty good movie, but I didn't leave it thinking about a sequel. I suppose the $610 million that POTC has made so far has something to do with it. The screenwriters are good, so they may be able to come up a nifty sequel. We shall see.

Nah, this was designed to be a franchise, not a single shot movie. I think it's great they ended the story of "The Curse of the Black Pearl" so that they can do another movie with a completely different plot.
It's been too long (Indiana Jones and kinda- The Mummy) since we've had a good Serial series of movies. These characters are interesting enough they'll be able to keep me coming back. :)
Yeah, could be ok. I dig those old pirate serials.

I'll check it out depending on what the trailer looks like.

I just don't know who they plan to fight. I mean they already got the Ghost Pirates. What are they just going to say A SECOND CURSE IS FLOATING AROUND!!!
Probably EDJ... but I hope they don't.
I'd rather see a movie that doesn't involve the supernatural... maybe just seeing them really pillaging on the high seas for a change. Idunno, there are millions of cool storylines you can do with Pirates. You don't necessarily have to have something WORSE than the undead.

Exactly. I would be very suprised if they did go after the supernatural again. If they did it probably would limit this to only two movies, whereas if they go after a different plot hook it would hopefully extend the franchise's life beyond a sequel.
If they are really smart they'll start introducing other characters they can move too when Depp decides he's tired of playing Sparrow.
