YEAAAAAH! Man, I'm so relieved this is good...
I wanted this to be a good movie, so badly, when I saw the poster. This is the perfect flick for this guy. I think his cheerleader skit on SNL is just about my least fave segment there, but I really like what I've seen him do in movies... The trailer I caught on imdb.com looked great. Looking forward to this one -- although I didn't think that it would be angled as a genuine, proper Christmas movie, but I still think that's cool also.
Damn nice review, too!
And that's very cool, Jon Favreau -- he's from Swingers and Made...
Cool beans.

They did the same thing last year with Santa Clause 2. It's very very weird, but seems to be becoming a trend... to release the Christmas movies in November. I think Lord of the Rings may be scaring movies away from Christmas release dates, so they put it out right before thanksgiving hoping to pull in some Thanksgiving $$$

I don't know if it is a PROPER Christmas movie, but it is a Christmas movie of some sort. Hehe. It hits all the Christmas movie highlights without becoming annoying. I still don't understand why the heck I teared up. It is SO cheesy at the end but damn it works.
There's something really special about seeing Will Ferrell sitting on Bob Newhart's lap.

Bah! Christmas Story owns all of you. Disagree? Name me any other movie where a network runs 24 hour viewings of a movie.
I do love The Christmas Story but Vacation rules em all.
Allie and I imitate it all the time. Just yesterday, I saw a squirrel in the backyard and I yelled as loud as I could "SQUIRRRRRRRREEEELLL" as in the movie. On cue, Allie falls on the ground and plays dead like Griswold's Mom. LMAO!!

That poll sucks. Home Alone? Where is Muppet Christmas Carol?
And what happened to the Elf review?
New Line Cinema's local PR reps sent me threatening letters demanding that I remove the review... because Online Media are not allowed to run reviews before the movie's release date, only print media can do that, and if I refused to pull it down, they would see to it that I never got into another screening again.
I didn't have much choice.
Ofcourse you could boycot Newline as well. Meaning you won't be able to see ROTK but what's one film when you've got principles to uphold?
What Paramount Classics did is a little more severe... they are refusing to allow ONLINE media to review their films ... PERIOD.
What New Line is doing is what all studios have been doing for a couple of years now....
It is standard policy for all studios to invite SOME online media as a "courtesy" (that's how they put it) to press screenings, but only on the condition that we not to review the film until opening day.
This is applicable to almost every release, but generally only enforced on major releases or against online outlets they don't like...
And any more I cannot say because you never know who is reading... but there is a big diff between this standard policy and what Paramount Classics is doing.
I reccomend PM.

With all the hubbub of Matrix do NOT FORGET ELF!!!
Such a shame that it is coming out in the shadow of a movie like this.
GREAT MOVIE do not miss it. That means everyone has to see at least 2 movies in the theater this week!
I'd offer you a review to support my Elf love, but New Line Cinema won't let me do that... unless you go over to our syndication partner http://www.crword.com , New Line is letting us run the review with them since they are a print outlet, even though we can't run the review here.
Rediculous, but anyway, if you want to read it, go over there, download the pdf of their paper and you'll see the review on page 6.
Otherwise wait till Thursday at 11:59PM when I'll put it back up.
