Is Miss Piggy a good witch or a bad witch? (http://www.filmhobbit.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&postid=49266#post49266)
That's GREAT! It's about time for another Muppet film, and The Wizard of Oz story is perfect for puppetry.
I want Fozzie searching for a brain.

Fozzy would be the Lion, Kermit would be the Scarecrow, and someone retarded like Skeeter would be the Tinman. At least that's how I would do it.

someone retarded like Skeeter would be the Tinman Uh... hello? Gonzo?
If I were putting it together:
Dorothy - Human Actress (like Jim in Treasure Island)
Scarecrow - Kermit
Lion - Fozzie
Tin Woodsman - Gonzo
Evil Witch of the West - Piggy
Glinda the Good - Beanie Bunny
Wizard of Oz - Scooter
Munchkin - Rizzo the Rat (with the other rats being other munchkins)
Winged Monkey - Pepe the Prawn

Sounds like a good idea!!
this sounds awesome!
I kinda like Taln's choices
Kermit can't possible be the scarecrow, he's the smartest of the muppets! That makes no sense.
Maybe they can do Michael Jackson as the scarecrow for Human Actor (like Jim in Treasure Island), he looks more like a scarecrow than ever.
I was also thinking that Kermit could be the Wizard but it would be weird to have Kermit in a small part. Kermit as the tin man?
I think Kermit would be a GREAT Wizard of Oz, although yes, perhaps that part is too small.
I really want to know who the human actor will be, that chubby bald guy in Muppets from Space SUCKED, especially compared to Michael Caine and Tim Curry.

Yeah, originally I thought of Kermit for the wizard, but it's too small a part. Probably the wizard will end up also being human.
I think Kermit as the scarecrow is perfect - the scarecrow is actually smart, he just thinks he doesn't have any brains. He is also the first "main Oz" character introduced so it would make sense for it to be him.
Gotta work Bobo in somewhere... don't know where yet though.

kermit as the scarecrow sounds about right...
i could see oz working for him too
I still think Kermit is not dumb nor weird enough, Gonzo would make a much better scarecrow. I want Kermit as the Wizard. I don't see why he should always be in the lead anyway, he's the least colourful muppet of all.
I also wonder how they are going to fit in the usual kermit/piggy romance.. :confused
Stop bashing Kermit! You risk my wrath.
Oh... and this is GREAT! :)
I'm especially glad that it will be based on the books, which are VERY different from the movie. Much darker and more interesting. Should make something cool.

you make a good point about gonzo being the scarecrow, tick. i think he would be good...
but isnt gonzo usualy the narrator??
Gonzo the narrator? Wha?
Kermit really would make a better Tin Man though. I have to agree with that. Fozzy for Cowardly Lion!!!!
I don't think so..
Isn't there just a narrator in Muppet Chistmas Carol? The other films don't have narration at all I think..
Yes, I don't remember any narrating either Tick... except in Christmas Carol.
Though actually, Kermit may have done some brief narrating in The Muppet Movie.

The Muppets are headed to Oz. No not the butt raping penal colony of HBO. The land of wicked witches, merry midgets with big lolly pops, poppy feilds, and roads of saffron foundation.
:lol :lol :lol
This sounds like a good idea as what I saw from Muppets From Space sucked.

I'm very happy with summing it all up in those three sentences.
Muppets from Space sucked?
Tay is a muppet hater! Get the tar and feathers.

Caper Was the funniest one of them all. It's hysterical. THe funny part is even as a little kid I knew that museum that Charles Grodin stole the Baseball Diamond from was Bruce Wayne's house in Burton's Batman.

I ain't no Muppet hata, it was just one of their lesser works.
Plus origin stories suck... or something. :lol
hata!!!
It was funny, but yeah, maybe my least favorite so far.
My favorite is definently the original Muppet Movie, followed by Caper and Muppets Take Manhattan. Treasure Island perhaps 4th.
I love the Muppets Family Christmas special but for movies, my favorite is the Muppet Movie.
I'm buying those for Allie for Christmas.

After a few bong hits, Great Muppet Caper is ****ing comic genious. I remember when I was baked out of my skull one night and was watching it. I laughed myself into unconsiousness....over one line.
"What color are their hands now?"
funny stuff
Muppets in Space wasn't very good in comparission with the rest.
Personally, I'm a Christmas Carol fan, eventhough it's post-henson. Michael Caine is brilliant.
And Blunt, WHY ARE MUPPET CAPER AND MUPPET MOVIE STILL NOT ON R2 DVD!?!?!?
And anyone seen last years nbc christmas movie? It's out on dvd here next week.
Christmas Carol is awesome btw! I love it. Allie and I watched it the other day!

Anybody remember an episode in Muppet Babies? Piggy played Dorothy, Kermit the Scarecrow, Gonzo the Tinman, Fonzy as the Lion, and I think they had Bunson Honeydew as the Wizard, or maybe it was Rowlf, I don't recall.
Bunson Honeydew as the Wizard would be great. :)

Now, the question is, who would Miss Piggy play? I think she'd be more suited to play the WWW then Dorothy. Maybe have a live actress play her, like Daveigh Chase or something.
Oh yes. Piggy MUST be the Wicked Witch!
But if they are true to form, they'll probably have a human play the WWW. Usually in Muppet movies, the villains are always humans.

Glinda should be Janice. It would give a whole new layer to the poppy feild scene

Now, if only they had an adult Skeeter, none of this would be a problem :lol
