View Full Version : I fear they have ruined Timeline
Example 1:
Casting Paul Walker as Marek. Marek is a scholar who speaks several medieval languages, can sword fight, is a gentleman, and has a vast vocabulary.
Does Paul Walker sound like any of the above? NO!
Example 2:
The book is a suspense/drama with a little bit of action. The trailer only shows action sequences.
Also, Marek isn't the Professor's son...but they changed that. I believe I see several other plot points changed.
I am going to be so bummed about this adaptation. They are ruining a good book. GAR!

So... um... Paul Walker period wasn't your first clue that this is going to suck-diddley-uck?
I haven't read the book... but I know how slaughtered other Crighton novels have been when adapted for the screen (I even liked Lost World, but it's nothing like the book).

Whoa, hold yer horses! ;)
First of all...I too fear they've ruined a great story. But even so, they would not be stupid enough to cast Walker as Marek. Paul Walker is miscast as Chris Hughes...and the Hughes character is now the professor's son. Whatever the hell that's about. Probably wanted to make the relationship more personal, because in the book you get that the professor is almost a fatherly figure to all his students.
Anyhoo...Gerard Butler plays Marek. Aside from Paul Walker, the casting is one of the few great things about the film.
But I'm still looking forward to it and there's always hope for guys like Walker and Ashton Kutcher. We've yet to see them challenged, and this could make a pseudo-actor out of Walker.

i didnt really like timeline...
i thought it would maake a fun movie though
i hope it doesnt suck...
oh ok..so they have now made Chris Hughes the focal character? That's worse than Walker as Marek?
Marek is supposed to be the main character while Chris Hughes is kinda wimpy but later develops his courage.
OH God this is gonna stink

which one was hughes? i forget.
The trailers for this are simply HORRIBLE. I can't imagine the movie being good.
And don't compare Ashton and Paul Walker. Ashton has not been horrible in his movies. He really hasn't. Walker on the other hand has and numerous opportunities to prove that he has something. He has instead proven himself the worst actor ever to appear in a movie theater.
There is nothing worse than casing Paul Walker in any movie. Even his acting in the trailers is bad.
Marek, Hughes, and the girl were the 3 people who go back in time to search for the Professor. In the books. Hughes is basically saved by a boy and they run and hide from the knights until they reunite with Marek and the girl later.

I forget, which of Paul Walker's movies has had the potential to showcase his acting abilities?
Fast and the Furious?
2 Fast 2 Furious?
The Skulls?
Varsity Blues?
The only one with real potential was Joy Ride, which as a film wasn't terrible. Unoriginal and he bored me to tears though.
If you can't even be convincing in a throwaway role like Fast and Furious... which any idiot ought to be able to pull off, then why the heck should you have an opportunity to showcase your acting abilities?
I'm shocked that anyone can even try to make a CASE for Paul Walker having acting abilities. It's like trying to get water from a rock. Unless Richard Donner is freaking Moses, Timeline is in trouble.

Richard Donner has directorial alzheimers or something. He used to make good movies but now the ability seems to have dropped out of his head.

I'm not sure where I'm defending Walker's acting ability.
You stated that Walker has proven himself a terrible actor, and I ask which role has he had that potentially could have showcased his ability. Ashton Kutcher hasn't proven himself any more than Paul Walker has.
I don't see that Kutcher is any better than Walker at the moment, and vice versa.
Fast and the Furious was all about the cars and music. A monkey coulda pulled off the O'Connor role.
For the record...I think Walker is the death knell of Timeline, which shoulda been a great movie. I hope it is at least enjoyable, since I love the book.

I 've seen some commericals for this, and I saw a trailer or two a while back. I didn't even realize this was being released this year. But either way, it looks truly god-awful. It looks like the worst elements of The Time Machine remake and The Core mixed together.

That's sorta my point. A monkey could've pulled off that role, but Paul Walker could not!! He's terrible. If he can't even do that, then why should he be able to do anything else???

Ashton Kutcher was entertaining as Kelso in That 70s Show. Paul Walker has never been remotely watchable.
That's the point. It's like watching a real life Ted "Theodore" Logan trying to act.
