I predict this will do worse than Speed 2... only because that was a sequel to a film people actually saw...

actually, Miss Congeniality made $100 Million domestically.

No, I'm going to tell you why this is happening:
Sandra Bullock's career is in the toilet.
And the last film that she did that anyone even cared remotely about was Miss Congeniality.
She can't make a movie anyone wants to see, so she's going for the only thing that has any life left in it.

Allow the real Brody to set the record straight: Miss Congeniality pulled in $210 million worldwide over a budget of $45 million. People saw it, but I think it's still regarded as the type of movie that does not ask for a sequel. This is the part where Warner Bros. should invest in market research to see that just because everyone wants to rent Miss Congeniality over and over again or purchase it does not mean they want a sequel. Same case with Analyze This, Legally Blonde, and Tomb Raider: people saw it, and that was all they needed.
If this movie were to happen, it should have happened last year, when the movie was still a little fresh in people's minds. But 4 years after is just pushing it. Could be ok, but I doubt it will make even half what the original did.
Oh I agree that it is a stupid idea and there is no reason for it. I'm just explaining why Bullock is doing it. Desperation.
