This may not be news to some, but the original TCM takes place on August 18th, 1973. The remake takes place on August 20th, 1973, two days later. This would mean that the new "remake" in theaters right now is actually a semi-sequel (or "mid-quel") to the original, since it can be viewed that way. Though one problem with that would be the name of the family. In the original, it's Sawyer. In the remake, it's Hewitt, so it's hard to say. I just find the placing of the setting for the remake very interesting. And btw, I saw the remake, and will post my full review in a couple of days.

Sequel that takes place after one movie in a series, but before another. Hence, if the TCM remake took place after the original film, but before the three sequels, it would be a midquel.

Yes, yes, I completely got what it is, I just think the word "mid-quel" is funny.
