Caught a screening of Love Actually last night.

Review coming soon. But I really enjoyed it. It is the first truly ADULT Christmas movie I've seen well... maybe ever? I can't think of another. There are some R rated ones, but they all in some way play into how kids view Christmas or something. This one is all about adult relationships and adult issues... I dig it.

I get the feeling that it really wants to be Magnolia though and I think there is some misplaced Politics (anti-american rhetoric) thrown in at one point that shouldn't have been there, not because no one has the right to say it, but just because it really has nothing to do with the rest of the movie.

A huge cast with tons of characters and TONS of big names. Here's some of the more famous ones with larger parts:

Colin Firth
Liam Neeson
Emma Thompson
Hugh Grant
Keira Knightly
Laura Linney (Who looks hideous naked.. truly disgusting)
Alan Rickman
Bill Nighy (comedic brilliance in this)

Smaller roles:
Elisha Cuthbert
Denise Richards
Billy Bob Thorton (as the US President and a jerk)
Rowan Atkinson

It's a movie about 20 or so different people who are all in different ways connected and how they are involved with love... its basically a movie about all the different types and phases and pieces of love. Love beginning, love ending, love failing, love enduring, first loves... etc.

Done well though and tied up with a Christmas bow.

Good to hear, Hobbit!

I've been looking forward to this movie since early summer when I first saw a teaser.

I'm a sucker for the Four Weddings/Bridget Jones/About a Boy British type comedies.

I didn't much care for Bridget Jones...

But I love About a Boy... and this is not as good as About a Boy. It is still good though.

Is Keira nekkid in the movie? :lol

Sadly no. Laura Linney is briefly, and disgustingly...

and then a no-name actress who plays one of the major characters is naked in almost every one of her scenes. She's a celebrity body double.

The only one of those I cared for was About a Boy, but that's because the author Nick Hornby is such a good writer that you'd have to be a monkey to screw it up.

I actually think it looks good for what it is.

I'm practically in awe of Kiera Knightley, so I have an urge to see this. It looks like a brilliant romantic comedy to say the least.

It's the only decent romance movie I've seen all year.

Yet it won't make as much money as How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days

Sadly correct.

So, why didn't this get its own "Post Here When You See It" thread?

Since it was brought up, I personally think it's the best movie released last Friday, not Elf or Matrix Revolutions. (Though I love Matrix Revolutions.)

It runs a close second with Revolutions for me. Great movie.

I guess I was hoping this thread would sub as a post when you see it! :)

Which was your favorite character storyline NotSo?

I think Prime Minister's was. I loved Natalie. She was...enchanting. I know that sounded goofy, but she was wonderful, I thought.

I liked all of them, though. I guess my least was Colin Firth's, but that was still pretty good.

I liked the Prime Minister's part, but felt that the political rhetoric that was included was ill suited to the movie.... and was only included because wheover was in charge of the film felt the need to work an anti-american political statement in to the only platform they had available.

Take that part out of it, and the Prime Minister's part is quite wonderful :)

Saw it... Cute.

Rickman was greatness...
Thorton was fun...
Knightly was hotness...
Neeson was sweet....

(shrugs)

I'll just be going now...

FYI Martine McCutcheon was in Eastenders (THE biggest soap in the UK). Then she had a pretty successful pop career (Murder on the dance floor & Take me home).
