On second thought, maybe "Survivor: Pearl Islands" won't be returning to Panama for the season finale. Producers had chosen Panama City's El Arco Chato ("The Flat Arch") as the venue for the finale, but the historic landmark partially collapsed on Friday, Nov. 7.
Instead, the "Survivor: Pearl Islands" finale and live reunion show will shoot in Los Angeles. Host Jeff Probst's elaborate arrival, which producer Mark Burnett had promised would be his best yet, will have to be reconceived.
The 325-year-old Arco Chato was a major Panamanian tourist attraction, located in the ruins of the Santo Domingo Convent in the Casco Viejo suburb. The arch was considered an architectural marvel and its durability helped convince American engineers that the construction of the Panama Canal was structurally viable.
The two-hour "Survivor" finale will air on Sunday, Dec. 14 at 8 p.m. ET.
