Victor Fresco, the man behind "Andy Richter Controls the Universe," has two new comedies in the works for fall 2004.
Fresco, who's based at Paramount Network TV, is developing a show about blended families for FOX and a workplace comedy set in a high school for ABC, according to The Hollywood Reporter. "The Daily Show's" Lewis Black is set to star in the ABC project.

The FOX series, working under the title "Related by Family," is close to receiving a pilot order. It will focus on the teenage kids of newly remarried parents who are forced to live together and who are trying to figure out what to do with their lives. Zachary Knighton has been cast as one of the leads.

"It's not that these are kids who are not ambitious, it's just that they're not sure what they want to do," Fresco tells the Reporter. "I had some characters like this in 'Richter,' and I'd really like to explore these people in more detail."
ABC, meanwhile, has ordered a script for the untitled high-school show, in which Black would play the principal. Fresco says the role will let Black "do his thing, which is to be kind of frustrated and angry," along the lines of his "Daily Show" commentaries.

Prior to "Andy Richter," Fresco worked as a writer and producer on "Mad About You," "Almost Perfect" and "The Trouble with Normal," among other shows.
