View Full Version : Grand Moff Tarkin CGI???
lol I'm trying to give hobbs a shock. I have heard rumors that his face will either be prosthetically changed or CGI changed to look more like the original Tarkin.
Somebody sent me this pic... not sure about it...

I find it hard to tell
look at the cheek bones and the wrinkles along the face. Also 2 different noses./

the cheeks look the same.....and the nose looks different because of the angle of the photos........I'm sorry I just don't see it

oh well ;)
Hmm.
1. Human faces done entirely with CGI do not even look remotely real. They suck ass.
2. REAL Human faces ADJUSTED with the help of CGI can look good as long as they aren't screen long and aren't in a position of close scrutiny.
So, if he is using option 1 (which would be a very Lucas thing to do( then we are all screwed.
If he is using Option 2, then it could be just fine as long as Tarkin isn't on screen very much. He's have to be just a quick cameo character.

More like a (Al)Roker moment! ;)
I have not had my stomach stapled.
Prosthetics rarely look that good for this sort of thing either to be honest.
i hope it is prosthetics. Using CGI when something can be more naturally is like using nuclear weapon to wipe out an antbed. Stop showing off Lucas. GO back to miniatures and masks!!!
Ok, but do you think prosthetics do all that good of a job?
What method he uses totally depends on how long this character is going to be on screen. Is he a major character or what?
I dont' understand really why they need to adjust his face at all though to be honest.

I sorta agree with Hobs, here. It's not like Tarkin is going to be on film THAT much in this last movie. He's got a couple of minutes, at best.
And honestly, if that's the case, CGI'ing it fine by me. We're just talking about making the character look younger, and since we all know Georgie-boy loves the CGI crap, there's really no hope of it being otherwise.
When did I say I was in favor of doing it CGI?

Guess Georgie missed Reloaded. CGI humans at a distance aren't convincing enough and humans up close look like they've wandered off the set of Final Fantasy: The Spirits Without
To be honest, why does he need to be in it at all? More fan baiting. Blech.
Not to mention resurrecting dead people with CGI or prosthetics is just creepy and didn't Lucas speak out against that before Episode I?
Yet more hypocrisy.
i don't think he's gonna slap peter cushing's head on the guy..just try to make the actor look more like Cushing.

Then I fall back on my fan-baiting defence.

Clarification - I agree with Hobs in the first sentance of my post, meaning that Tarkin was only going to have a few minutes of screen time.
The rest was of my own volition.
