Dubya has demanded that Saddam face the "ultimate penalty" for his crimes.

well, he did not demand it he just said it. And if you believe in the death penalty, I would think murdering tens of thousands of your own people would warrant it. Now if you don't support the death penalty I see a person being against it.


But.. if it was up to me.. don't make a martyr out of him. lock his ass up in a U.S. controlled prison forever. Don't trust him in one of those middle eastern prisons that let prisoners escape on a daily basis.

I reckon Dubya's blood-frenzied execution lust and America being the only civilized western country to be so barbaric as to employ capital punishment (sarcasm alert; I'm pro) has bugger all to do with this one.

The Iraqis wants this one deader than dead. Theirs has been a violent society for a long time, and it may manage to become less so with time, but it sure as hell isn't gonne turn into Sweden overnight -- and it sure as hell isn't gonna do so for Saddam Hussein.

And as far as an international tribune goes -- gimme a goddamn break. The ones who are arguing that point, are the ones who argued against going after Saddam in the first place. "Leave him alone! You'll create a big mess! You'll get us all killed! You'll never find him! Okay, you did find him -- now, WE should be the ones to try him!" Yeah, **** that.
