On April 20th Fox will release the "incendiary" and "controversial" laugh riot Reefer Madness. Long in the public domain, this remastered reissue boasts both the original black and white and newly colorized versions, both in 1.33:1 full screen, plus restored Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1 tracks (!), plus audio commentaries by Mike Nelson of "Mystery Science Theater 3000" and the Legend Films Color design team (on the colorized version only), and the rare short film "Grandpra's Marijuana Handbook."
:cool
Now, where's that joint smoking smilie when you need one?

The Reefer Madness (colorized) DVD is completed and being duplicated for the 4-20 release. This is absolutely an outstanding DVD with a rich selection of special features that are rolling on the floor hilarious. Mike Nelson has never been funnier and Grandpa Gonja is a unique treat.
The feature film was telecined from a pristine 35mm print and subsequently underwent extensive audio and video restoration on the colorized AND black and white versions, both of which are contained on the same DVD. In my opinion, the music on the DVD is reason enough to buy the DVD.
You'll be hearing a lot more about the feature film as the release date nears.

Welcome and thanks for the heads up Barry.
Haven't seen Reefer Madness in ages so I'm really looking forward getting that disc when available.
Looks like a neat little SE there.

I remember you could find the disk just about anywhere, usually on the $5.99 rack, and then when I want to get it for one of my movie marathon nights I couldn't find it anywhere. Glad to see it's coming back out with a decent treatment. I'll definitely go grabbing it!
This looks like something my significant other will get a kick out of watching.:lol
Hi Barry_S! We see you staring at this thread day after day.
Please feel free to jump in the pool with the rest of us.

Wow!
Did I tell you guys I found a copy of this a week and a half ago? It is quite inexpensive if you have "the right contacts".
Mike Nelson is funny sometimes, but for the most part he sounds bored, like he did it just to get a paycheck or something. I'm not sure, but he might have been drunk through some of it as his speech sounds slurred. I guess life is rough without MSTK to hold him through.
The cleanup on the film is really good... on the first half. About halfway through the movie it seems to start showing it's age. Maybe the cleanup crew stopped early, or the job was rushed?
Anyway, if you're a fan of the movie I'm sure you'll enjoy it when it comes out. I'm just glad I didn't pay full price for it.

Taln -
Don't think you saw the soon to be released DVD (FOX release on 4-20). Mike is hilarious and Grandpa Ganja is a riot! If you had the DVD you would likely have commented on that.
The restoration is complete and the print is the best that exists anywhere.

Own Public Domain don't need another one.
And Barry that was the funniest most biased "opinion" I've ever read.
"These Aren't the Droids you're looking for, Mike is very funny"
Don't go you're killing me man.

Well, all joking aside I'm a bit disapointed. Especially because Barry S here has been such a good sport I was hoping to review Reefer Madness for the site. No such luck though. Other then ordering it through amazon.com, I can't find the movie anywhere. :(
I've checked all the major outlets and even the lesser outlet that usually has stuff like this and nothing. That's a real shame.
Maybe in a few weeks it'll come out a little more widespread, but I'd hate to think online ordering is the only way to get this release.

Taln - It's been at Tower Records, Best Buy, Target is supposed to carry it... most other national retailers other than Walmart. It is supposedly doing very well and might have been sold out where you have check... they should be restocking.
Thanks for the headsup... we'll mention to FOX.
