Canoe trips, food fights, mosquitoes, sneaking into the girls section and poison ivy may be just a few of the "Very Special" themes explored in "Camp Sunnyside," a summer camp series being developed by ABC for a possible 13-episode summer or fall run.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, ABC has given a script commitment for the series, which will be written by television tyro Scott Lew. The series would follow three siblings at a summer camp, all told from the point of view of a 12-year-old boy.

Lew will next direct his feature debut, "Bickford Schmeckler's Cool Ideas," an indie coming-of-age story from his own script. The USC grad's only previous credit is the script for the mutant lizard thriller "Aberration."

And as Bill Murray's Tripper might say, if "Camp Sunnyside" fails, it just doesn't matter. It just doesn't matter. It just doesn't matter. It just doesn't matter.

no TV show or Movie has gotten it right yet. I went to summer Camp, and worked at one. It all just plays up on the stereotypes. It's a shame, there's a bunch of totally untapped resources there, but no one's gotten it right yet.
