So I just had a brainstorm.

Notice how a site devoted to movies really only has ONE section of the message board devoted to movies?(well two including DVD forum. but don't bother me with details!)

We used to have three sections +DVD, and frankly, the discussions were a bit more in depth and didn't disapear off the bottom of the page so fast.

The trouble was, the three divisions we DID have didn't make sense. Was a movie action or drama? Comedy or action.. whatever. I dont' even remeber the divisions.

But, discussions developed and hung around long term.

So, how to divy up the Cinema Blend back in to smaller more digestable chunks and therefore make this more of a movie forum rather than books, TV, trivia etc. (not that I didn't advocate for the above when they were added)

So, how about these?

Coming Soon (movies in development and not yet released)
Now Playing (movies that are currently in theaters)
Gone but not Forgotten (all other movies)

The big sticking point is dividing territory between the DVD section and the gone but not forgotten section. Maybe combine the two or just use the DVD section as the gone but not forgotten or whatever.

Maybe use differnt name than the ones above, I dunno. just brainstorming here.

But I DO know that movies that were hot only 3 weeks ago are now no longer even on the front page of the forum. This would spread things out a bit and concentrate the new improved Cinema Blend more on movies.

I used to bring up ideas like this back on the grey havesn. Not that there IS such a thing as the grey havens. nope nope. But back when I was... assuming there was... which there wasn't. This is the kinda stuff..

I know we haven't gotten along in the past, but I really do like your idea, Val. I've seen film forums section in different ways before, but this sounds like it could work. :)

I like the idea. For someone like me, who does watch a fair amount of movies, but doesn't see any of them in their first week of release, it would open the discussion a bit more.
