View Full Version : Francis Ford Coppola presents:
What does that mean? What does it mean to present a movie? MGM seems very eager to put this kind of thing on there DVD covers, I asume because they feel independent films won't sell unless they put a famous name on the box. But really, shouldn't there be some kind of connection, a contribution to the film in any way? What does this mean>

Yeah, I think it's definitely because the studio doesn't think that they film will get as much attention unless they slap a big name director's name on the poster or cover art.

Usually "presents" means the person in question served as executive producer - ie they convinced the studio to release it.
Here's a little bit of discussion on "They" as to if Craven produced the film in any way from the imdb boards.. (http://imdb.com/title/tt0283632/board/nest/2003501)
The film is saw was Kooyanisqatsi, and Coppola's name wasn't mentioned in the credits as executive producer, or anywhere else. I highly doubt he had any involvement in the film whatsoever, it wouldn't surprise me if he didn't even see it. ;)

Weird. He's listed as the producer at IMDb (http://imdb.com/title/tt0085809/fullcredits#writers) though.
