ERGH...they've got everything else right, but I'm not even close to being sold on Olyphant yet. He's great in Deadwood, but I'm not sure about this..something seems off.
Okay fine, I'll say it, I have faith in this movie. As someone who is a rabid Hitman fan, I say this shows at least some promise, mainly in the music they chose, Ave Maria, a song used prominently in at least the last game they put out, so it shows they're at least trying.
Bleh. Really does look like a freakin video game trailer which is possibly the worst way they could've gone with this considering how the Hitman franchise tried to be quite cinematic.
Also I agree with Josh, in that Timothy Oliphant looks like the Star Wars kid trying to be Hitman, he seems to have no physical presence whatsoever.
Jean Reno was a more convincing hitman.

I thought about this today (by the way Tay - I wrote that story, not Josh) and this could work. They have the whole idea that he's protected by divinity, so maybe the whole bald thing is that he's part monk or priest?
I don't know... I'm grasping at straws here. I want it to work, but I don't have high hopes for it.
Did anyone really even like the games? I remember playing the first one back when I was like 15 thinking it was pretty mediocre, and the most recent ones that have come out for XBOX have been absolute garbage... What gives? I bet it's Boll with a name change.
Edit: Nevermind, Boll is working on this masterpiece.

In Hitman 2 he was hiding out from the company that made him in a church with an old priest, I wonder if that's how they're shoe-horning this whole silly "divinity" angle.
I don't like this idea that Hitman's being portrayed as this literal "avenging angel". In the game he's a wonderful anti-hero who walks this great blurred moral line, so the whole "divine" and "hero" and "protector" angle just doesn't jive for me.
Hitman does it for the money, he does it for personal revenge. He doesn't do it because he's on a Blues Brothers Mission from God.

the guy that did the hitman game music is an old friend of mine i haven't spoken to in years. i wonder if they used him for the film, because he's gotten a lot of acclaim for his work. i looked around but i read something on his website that looks like he's got some sort of gag order so he can't talk about it.
Just seen this today. I was expecting worse. However, that is not saying much. In one way I enjoyed it. In another way, I didn't know what to make of it. There was no great character moments (except maybe one) and the story did not grab you in any way. It wasn't a goofy fun popcorn flick either. I will say that the action was descent, and it was shot very beautifully with a really hot babe. So if your looking for some entertaining mindless action and some breasts. This is your movie.
Rating:
C+
Side Note:
I don't play video games anymore, but I used to be a big fan of Hitman when it first came out. So I had to see this.
Side Note 2:
I will say this... I did enjoy this a whole lot more than that Live Free... movie.
