Typically if anyone starts a discussion with "you know, I'm not really a ______" will prove this false by the end of that sentence. It's like the 9-11 Truthers always start with "You know, I'm not really into this conspiracy theory but..." and then they'll proceed to ask five inane questions that have been answered hundreds of times already.
