IZombielandI The Movie Rule 1: Enjoy the film for what it is. Dont go digging around IZombielandI for realism. Some of the characters decisions are questionable and the whole zombie scenario is implausible, but this is a gem of a film that is immensely enjoyable for what it is.... READ THE FULL REVIEW
I saw this movie last night and I thought it was great. I missed the first five minutes or so, which I'm hearing I will regret, but oh well. I DID go into it not expecting any sort of realism and that made it completely worth it. I'm really glad that it didn't get caught up in any sort of melodramatic bullshit that other zombie movies incorporate. None of that 'shoot me i'm a zombie' or 'omgimsoparanoidimgoingtokilleveryoneintheprocess'. They really didn't go in depth with any of the characters and I'm grateful for that. The gore was also pretty realistic so there was a cool horror aspect. it did surprise me that it was much more humor focused than horror. There were points where you didn't even see a zombie for fifteen-twenty minutes. All in all...great stuff.
It's funny actually, I was completely sober last night when I watched it... 20 minutes after it was over I asked Svoboda what movie we had just watched.
That kinda sums up how I felt about it. I had a pretty good time, but it was completely forgettable and nothing I'd ever recommend.
Hm. Well I wasn't really old enough to watch them when they first came out, and I didn't see them until I was quite a bit older and by that time they were very, very dated.
But taking that into account, I guess I like them well enough.
i think its interesting that most horror films have underlying sexual stories in them - i like the idea of fusing a horror movie with comedy instead - def enjoyed shaun of the dead, and im really looking forward to seeing zombieland (tonight...yay!). heard woody harelson is really great in this.
I can't believe that Zombieland is the most enjoyable film I've seen all year. I thought it'd be great fun, but this was unbelievably awesome.
There is only one single solitary problem with the whole film...Tallahassee didn't get Zombie Kill of the Week after his epic mayhem.
I will have to second that. Zombieland was such an enjoyable film! I watched twice already and the second time was just as great. It was funny, the visuals were amazing, the story was pretty good too, acting was phenominal, and I think I'm in love with Emma Stone. =)
I enjoyed this movie, but was kind of disappointed. The way it opened, I felt like it was going to provide something new and be unique. In many respects, it was. However, I felt it became too generic as a 'teen' movie. Not the type of teen movie that relies on gore, cheap lines, and sex....but the generic 'coming of age' teen movies. It was really predictable and it just went downhill after the first 20-25 minutes. The ending was exactly what I thought it would be.
It wasn't terrible, and I'd certainly rate it far ahead other summer movies like Transformers, GI Joe, etc....but I certainly wouldn't put it in the range of some of my more favourite movies this year, like Watchmen, District 9, Bronson, and Moon.
