On rewatching it recently, I think I decided that the early/middle stuff isn't quite as intolerable as I once thought. The love story is still horrible, but the rest is actually occasionally engaging.
On the other hand, the second half isn' QUITE as good as I once thought either, particularly compared to ROTS.
Still, it's a pretty decent movie, enjoyable in all the right ways.
Not a perfect flick, not up to the level of STAR WARS as it should be, but passable.
You know what I do like this ****ing movie. My theory is that its 3/4ths of a Star Wars film. The Obi Wan plotline is pretty great, the Kamino world is very creative, the Jango fight is awesome. The final battle is incredable.
The main problem though is Hayden's performance. I mean you can take literally every sentence the guy says and boil it down to " I love you Padme." or "I hate you Obi Wan" Literally every one. Try it sometime.
Even then though there are some pretty cool Anakin Moments, I love him tracking the Sand People while Duel Of the Fates plays, and him getting his first taste of the Dark side. It's just a good movie, with some flaws.
I agree with EDJ. After watching it again, Ewan owns this movie. All of his stuff is great. Lucas should have hired somebody talented to script the Anakin/Hayden stuff and the love stuff. That's horrible.
Hitting mute whenever C3P0 is about to speak on Geonysis is a plus.
I gave it a 4 simply due to OH MY GOD LOOK AT ALL THE LIGHTSABERS!! Oh and Yoda is great in this movie.

What a drag
I'm beside myself.
Jesus, George, I could write corny shit like that!! Just leave Threepio's ass on the ship.
I second that. There was no real need to have them go into that factory...except to have a "zany" adventure and show that R2 could fly (also unessasary, IMO) It all was just too much. And the thing with the switching heads? WTF? Is all technology in that galaxy compatible?

apparently all star wars tecnology is Apple based. No way a Microsoft droid head would fit on that other robot body.
I didn't like Threepio during the battle in the arena, but before that I was so overjoyed seeing he and Artoo together again. And the being in the middle of the battle was fine, I mean that's their point in the story, it's just emulating the Hidden Fortress some more. It's more of HOW Threepio was put in the battle and his corny lines that bother me.
