What are the coolest parts in the Star Wars Series. That simple.
-For me I think my absolute favorite part in the entire series is a little moment during the first Luke vs. Vader fight. Its after the fight has gone on for a while and Luke is doing better then Vader expected. And he just stops, and lowers his light saber and uses the force to pummel the living shit out of Luke. It is one of the drop dead coolest action beats I've ever seen. Vader's finest moment.
-Then theres the pitch perfect moment when Vader finally senses Leia's presence in ROTJ, and Luke finally gives into the Dark side of the force and comes out of hiding. The way its shot and lit, the way the music comes up as he starts his attack. Its just...... Damn.
-The first shot of the AT AT's through the binoculars in ESB.
-"Luminous being are we not this crude matter."
-"If you strike me down I will be more powerful then you ever imagined."
-"At last we'll reveal ourselves to the Jedi, at last we will have our revenge." Only great non action bit in the Phantom Menace.
-Jango vs. Obi-wan. Quite possibly the most hardcore Star Wars Fight pre ROTS. Just the way that Obi and Jango steadily lose all there toys until it just comes down to the two of them beating the living shit out of eachother with bare fists, there's nothing like that in any of the other Star Wars Films.
That opening to A New Hope... not the crawl, the Tantive being chased down by a Star Destroyer. The way a big ships starts across the screen... only to be followed by a MUCH bigger ship blasting it to bits. Greatness.
Heck, add to that the first reveal of Darth Vader, as he walks onto the Tantive.
for an oh shit moment.. We all heard the rumors of Yoda fighting in AOTC. Boy I tell ya, when you heard Yoda's cane as he walked into the screen, the entire theater began to have serious geek palpitations... The entire anticipation of it was awesome.
My favorite moment from the Original trilogy was what EDJ mentioned. As Luke gives into the darkside, I love that entire part. I love the music especially. I can watch that scene over and over..
The biggest oh shit moment of them all was obviously "Luke I am your father" The single greatest cliff hanger ending ever!
But I think my biggest "fist thrusting" scene was the return of Han at the end of A New Hope. Great timing combined with the music.
Speeder Bike Chase- A moment of explination on this one. I think for this scene to really work the whole way you had to see it at a really young age. Because God DAMN!!!! When you can't see the seams, when you have no idea what the **** Blue Screen is, that sequence is beyond amazing. And even when you do know all that stuff the sequence is still really ****ing cool!!
The only Star Wars moment that I remember really making me jump out of my skin was the doors opening on the conference room in Cloud City, and IT'S FREAKIN' VADER!! That black form against the all white room...it's so left field. Chewie's yelling, Han pulling the blaster and firing, Vader nulling the shots with just his hands and then yanking the blaster across the room. Great moment.

-3 Way duel in TPM
-Asteroid chase in ESB
-Another oh shit moment has to be when we see Palpy use force lightning in ROTJ
-The last 45 minutes in AOTC
-Final space battle in ROTJ
My single favorite moment is Vader's redemtion. The whole scene where Palpatine is killing Luke. First off, you realize that Luke may be pretty good, but Palpatine doesn't even need a weapon to kill him. And you know, have you ever realized the fact that he's TOYING with him. He's just torturing Luke, slowly taking the life out of him so that he can enjoy punishing his insolence. And as you really start to worry that Luke's gonna die, Vader slowly gets to his feet. He starts looking at Luke, nods slightly and you almost start to give up on Vader saving him. He almost seems to be enjoying it, too. Then Luke manages to muster enough strength reach out to him and scream "Father! Please!" and the light comes on. You can almost see Vader's emotions changing on the iron mask with the way the lightning flashes against it as he looks from master to son and back again. Then, as the Skywalker theme comes in full force, the moment finally hits. Vader picks up Sidious, hurls him down, and then collapses into his son's arms. His breath is all you need to hear to know he's going to die, but he went out as Anakin.
Probably nearing, or maybe over, 500 times that I've seen that scene and a I STILL get goosebumps.
Right behind it is the scene right before. Vader coaxing Luke out by discovering Leia. Luke's scream of "never!" Finally hacking down his dad and then realizing what happened. Saying no to the Emperor, and then the anger and determination on Palpatine's face telling you what's happening next.

That moment was kinda ruined for my by Vader's less than stellar line delivery "What!?" It sounded more like an old man whose just been told he can't get another beer because he's had too many already. But that was a great...pardon the expression...moment of deus ex machina.

I liked the part where Darth Maul falls into the pit, and then splits into two halves. Beats seeing the emperor and Vader fall into the shaft, although it is a close call.

It was Harrison Ford that came up with the "I know" response wasn't it? Hadn't Lucas written something sappy and out of character for him to respond with like "I love you too"?

Ford is genius.
Yeah, Lucas wrote it as "I love you too." Ford told him no way would Han say that and he did the scene with "I know."
I miss the days when Harrison used to bring that little something extra like that to his characters.
Like how he came up with the scene in Indiana Jones where he shoots the flashy sword guy. They had this long sword fight written, but when the bad guy runs up to him to sword fight Harrison just looks at him, pulls out the gun he's got strapped to him and shoots him.
