Starring: Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Liam Neeson, Morgan Freeman, Gary Oldman, Ken Watanabe, Katie Holmes, Cillian Murphy, Tom Wilkinson, Rutger Hauer
Directed by Christopher Nolan Written by Bob Kane (characters), David S. Goyer (screenplay, story), Christopher Nolan (screenplay)
Plot:
Christopher Nolan's Batman Begins explores the origins of the Batman legend and the Dark Knight's emergence as a force for good in Gotham. In the wake of his parents' murder, disillusioned industrial heir Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) travels the world seeking the means to fight injustice and turn fear against those who prey on the fearful.
He returns to Gotham and unveils his alter-ego: Batman, a masked crusader who uses his strength, intellect and an array of high tech deceptions to fight the sinister forces that threaten the city.
After deep consideration, I'd rank Batman Begins thusly:
1. Batman Returns
2. Batman Forever
3. Batman (1989)
4. Batman Begins
5. Batman Fan Videos
6. Adam West's Batman & Robin
7. Home Videos of Batman themed costume parties
8. Batman guest spots on Scooby Doo
9. Batman & Robin
wow, I just saw it and am very impressed. I loved the way they had him become Batman, I thought it was pretty realistic, yet fantasy at the same time. Anyone notice Holmes had hard nipples through the entire movie
I was expecting a little more action in Batman Begins, but all in all, I think this was a pretty solid movie. It captured the heart of Batman from the graphic novels more than any of the other films had. It was simply awesome to see depth in story to the Dark Knight on the big screen. Batman Begins was probably the most realistic superhero movie I had ever seen. Very well produced, directed, and acted.
I didn't think the action was all that bad, and I'm usually one of the first to call filmmakers on poor cinematography.
I think my favorite thing this movie did, that I've only ever seen in the cartoon, was establishing Bruce Wayne's father. Wayne senior was a good man, the kind of man that you definitely mourn for years. Even though we only see the parents for a short time, you really feel Bruce's loss when they are killed, which makes him very sympathetic for the rest of the movie.
What I can't believe I missed: Ras'Al Ghul. I should have seen it coming, since Liam looked more like the comic book character than Ken. I also liked that a lot more than the idea of bringing Ken back to live a la the Lazaras pool. It was best to keep mystic forces out of this movie and let it be a "real" film.

Yeah I agree with you. I felt stupid for not seeing the Liam Neeson reveal coming.
It never even crossed my mind, not even when they showed a fat Rhas, not until he actually said what was going on.
Part of the reason that it's so convincing is that WB has gone out of their way in their marketing to hide it. Nowhere is Liam referred to as anything other than Ducard. On the official site for the film, they give just as much attention to Ken as Liam, so that you'd think Ken is a major part of the film.
WB deserves some credit for doing such a great job of keeping that under wraps.

You'll probably hate me for it, but I am not a real big fan of Tim Burton. I liked Big Fish alot, Mars Attacks was okay, and his 1989 Batman was pretty descent. However, I don't think I would own any of those movies. Even though I keep debating on whether to own Big Fish every time I see it in the stores.

Nolan should have called the guys from Batman: Dead End in to film all the action scenes for him.
Yeah, he probably could have gotten them at a discount, too.
