LOL with OotP if they would just take all of harry's angstiness and put it all into one 10 minute rant in the movie they'd cut the movie down by about 400 pages.

It's true. With Goblet of fire it will be interesting to see what they do with the new characters who have arcs through the next two to three films. How much can they afford to cut without affecting the next several films. Or maybe they don't care. Just takin' it one movie at a time.

I'm not saying Richard Harris's movies where better, but he is a much better Dumbledore.
He had a stately presence and a grandfatherly warmth.
Gambon looks like guys I've seen at Greatful Dead concerts. Hell he might as well be walking around in his bathrobe eating Moosetracks out of the carton half the time.
I rather like Gambon as Dumbledore better than Harris. While Harris might have exuded more "grandfatherly warmth", in the books it is said several times that Dumbledore could throw down. Harris seemed much more fragile in that role, as compared to Gambon. Gambon makes Dumbledore being one of the most -- if not THE most -- powerful wizard believable.

Harris did seem more fragile, but that's how I always imagined Dumbldore. He reminded me (in this respect only) like a Yoda figure. His fragility is only skin deep, belied by a truly awesome strength that Dumbledore didn't really have a chance to express during the first two movies.
In the same way, Dumbledore is supposed to seem rather silly and almost loony when in fact he's really brilliant. I don't get either from Gambon.
One thing Gambon has nailed is the smartness of the character, but that's just one aspect. I agree Harris was better, but then, that's why they originally cast him, isn't it.

Um... that's pretty much how Dumbledore is describled especially in the first books...
Dumbledore is supposed to be a bright and sprightly, kooky old man who hides his power beneath a bumbling oddball facade much like Clark Kent, not behind a false fragility like Yoda.
While Harris was great in the one-on-one serious scenes with Harry, he really didn't capture the overall character as well as Gambon did.
It's not really Harris's fault, he was dying and in bad shape anyway, but Gambon is much more able to bring the LIFE that Dumbledore embues to the role.

Yeah but in the small amount of thime that he was in it, he did a great job and seemed a lot more like the dumbledore from the books. plus he owns both of the GOF trailers
The next trailer for "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" will be attached to Tim Burton's "Corpse Bride" on September 16, a very reliable source tells us. Running time and content is yet to be determined. "Bride" opens in limited theaters on September 16 and opens wide in the U.S. on September 23. We'll keep you posted.
