ZATHURA - pre release talk

Zathura

Release Date: November 11, 2005

Directed by: Jon Favreau

Plot:Two brothers discover an oblong box in the park, which they dismiss as "just some dumb old game." The boys turn their attention away from the game's "jungle adventure" board to discover a second game board inside with an outer-space theme and a colored path leading to the purple planet, Zathura. Mayhem ensues each time one of the boys draws a game card or rolls the dice. Facing meteors and giant robots, the brothers begin to appreciate each other and their sibling rivalry dissolves.

Cast: Jon Favreau, Tim Robbins, Josh Hutcherson, Jonah Bobo, Kristen Stewart

Did you guys see the Apprentice episode last week where the ditzy blonde mispronounces it ZENTHURA repeatedly while presenting a parade float to the director?

Priceless!

I saw that in the spots for the Apprentice. I didn't actually watch the show.

No one bothered to correct her either oddly enough. But that is besides the point.

I wish my son was a little older, because I think that he would love to see this in the theatre, but he is just too much of a brat to stay still.

I am so very interested in seeing this. It looks visually amazing and when I saw that Dax is in it well that was just icing.

It looks interesting, but something about it basically being a space Jumanji. I liked the movie and LOVED the book. Maybe it will work, but I get a feeling its gonna end up being really cheesy and not worth it.....I hope otherwise.

Pray for me. I'm about to leave and fight my way through a little kids Pizza Party alone to cover it.

This will not be fun.

I wonder if I can wear an apron?

A nice movie.

Not much more than that.

Beautiful visuals though. Wonderful what they've accomplished without CG.

There is a LITTLE CG in it though, at least I think so. In a couple of brief spots.

Saw it tonight. I liked it and recommend, although its really close to Jumanji, its still really good. The difference other than location is that the game is completed in one time, other than years later. Ok and maybe the amount of players as well.. Its about these brothers, when one of them starts playing this game wierd things happen, outer space wise . Some minus are sisters role is too minor (but I won't lower the rating for that). The house suddenly appearing in space, no launch. Second the character "astronaut" and brother. No, his role is fine and understand that "he played the game already", but having 2 of the same characters in the movie doesn't fit or make sense, its not a movie of seeing the future, but should be focused on finishing the game? Ah yes the ending.. I understand why some parts of this movie can get confusing, but if the game is over, show how everyone comes back, otherwise it looks like the character had a dream, which don't think C.Pictures was intending... On the other hand, action was nice, few parts were funny. I liked the special effects alot throughout the movie (better than Jumanji's). Thought the lizard men and robot were cool, you'll see. But id still say Jumanji keeps the name for originality 3.5. For this a 3.0!
