I have a whole theory on this subject:
Child actors are divided into 4 seperate groups.
#1. Child actors who hit early on, do time in rehab for one thing or another, and never really make a comeback (i.e. Corey Feldmen)
#2. Child actors who hit early on, do time in rehab for one thing or another, and stage a successful comeback. (i.e. Drew Barrymore)
#3. Child actors whose careers gradually rise throughout childhood and into adulthood without ever having to go into rehab (i.e. Elijah Wood and Sean Astin)
#4. Then there is always the child actor whose career just flames out without them ever having been through rehab, but I can't think of any good examples right now.
Child actors have to put up with a lot of pressure to grow up to fast, and may perhaps see drugs as a way out.
That or they are just screwed up.
Anyway, that is my theory.
